Weeks after the confirmation of the upcomingHarry Potterseries adaptation, the announcement continues to generate mixed reactions from fans, critics and even former stars of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World saga, mainly because it has only been 12 years since the release of the last film in the franchise.
The young wizard will return with a new face in the coming years, with an original series from Max, the company’s new streaming service, which will adapt each of Rowling’s seven books into a full season to follow as closely as possible the source material. However, audiences have been surprised by the news, and many have even come out against the adaptation.

While speaking to Radio Times, formerHarry PotterstarJason Isaacs, who played the villainous Lucius Malfoy, shared his thoughts on the series:
“It’s no weirder for me than for everybody else who’s seen the films. I happen to be in the films too. They make a new Spider Man every 15 minutes. You know, there was a ton of stuff in the books that we left out… Yeah it’s an odd feeling, but it’s no odder for me than it is anyone else. I can’t wait to see them and see what they do.”

What Other Harry Potter Stories Could Be Adapted in the Future?
After the failure ofFantastic Beasts, it’s obvious why Warner Bros. Discovery chose to adapt the original saga and not to go after some other spinoff idea, but Zaslav revealed that the series will be just the beginning of the next expansion for the Wizarding World.
In fact, the CEO already said that they wanted to adaptThe Cursed Child, the play that follows the adventures of Harry’s son Albus and Draco’s son Scorpius, who become friends after being selected in Slytherin together. For years, fans have been asking for a spinoff show centered on Harry’s father James and the Marauders, which will also offer a look at Severus Snape’s youth years and Lily, Harry’s mom. Another prequel series or movie Potterheads want to see is one focused on Tom Riddle before becoming Voldemort.
Going further into the past, a spinoff following the Hogwarts founders and the creation of the famous school is another idea that fans have considered as interesting. When Fantastic Beasts was confirmed, a movie saga telling the story of Quidditch was also announced to be in development, but the project seems to be dead, although Warner Bros. Discovery could bring it back now. The possibilities are endless when it comes to theHarry Potterfranchise.
