James Gunn is leading theDCUwith elegance and, of course, sealed lips. Fans are still buzzing over the new DCU’s first film,Superman, but that hasn’t stopped the influx of questions and rumors about what’s next for DC Studios. WhileThe Batman Part IIis expected to start filming sometime in the near future, with an August 12, 2025, release date confirmed, there are still many projects that fans are primed to believe could be in the works. Gunn is not one to reveal his hand, which fans are well aware of, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill. While being careful to not confirm or deny any specific information about the DCU’s unreleased future, Gunn recently dispelled all rumors about his upcoming plans.
WithPeacemakerSeason 2 coming up soon, Gunn has already hinted at the fact thatsomeSupermancharacters could come into playin the John Cena-led show. This morsel of information has been enough to keep some fans from speculating about the rest of the DCU’s future, but many are still wondering, and theorizing, about previously mentioned DCU projects like theWonder Womanreboot and theTeen Titansfilm.Supergirlwriter Ana Nogueira was penningTeen Titans, but has apparently moved on to theWonder Womanreboot instead. When asked if the team-up movie plans to have Damian Wayne, Batman’s son, appear as Robin, Gunn shot down all rumors about his top-secret plans in a post on Threads.

“Anything you’ve heard about that movie is made up or a guess. No one in the world knows anything about the concept for the story except four people.”
Gunn also told a fan asking about Hush being a villain inThe Batman Part IIas a “made up” report, not unlikeTeen Titans. Only four people in the world have an idea of how DC Studios might adapt Teen Titan, but that won’t stop fans from spreading hopeful rumors. Gunn isn’t completely starving fans of information, though. The man behind the new cinematic world threw fans a bone byreleasing the full images of the Hall of Justice mural fromSuperman. With 20 historic DC characters depicted, including Zatara and Super-Chief, the mural should give fans plenty to speculate about for the time being.

‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Is Perfectly Planned
The second season of the hit DCEU showPeacemakercouldn’t arrive at a better time. On the heels of theSupermanhype, the show will no doubt give fans some answers, while also raising more questions. If John Cena’s cameo inSupermanis any indication as to how the two projects will connect, then fans are in for a satisfying treat. Rick Flag Sr. will be one confirmed throughline between the DCU film and shows, but there are even more connections set up for the season that is set to release its first episode on August 21.
Many details about the cinematic universe are nearly set in stone, but Gunn is still not willing to confirm or deny any unreleased information. There’s no question about what’s directly next for the DCU, withSupergirlstarring Milly Alcock scheduled to release on July 27, 2025, and Mike Flanagan’sClayfaceset to release on July 20, 2025. Yet, nothing can stop the wave of speculation and extrapolation from comic fans. While the ball is still rolling on the DCU, fans will just have to wait to see where it lands.
