One ofJames Cameron’sbest movies, and an Academy Award winner of 11 Oscars, is set to stream free this month. Starting July 1, the disaster dramaTitanicis being added toTubi’slibrary, meaning fans will be able to stream the movie without paying anything. They only have to sit through occasional ad breaks during the movie.
Titanicstars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as Jack and Rose, two passengers of the liner who come from different parts of society. When they meet each other in the first hours of the ill-fated journey, they fall in love, only to find themselves struggling to survive when the ship hits an iceberg and starts to sink. Although it closely followsthe real-life eventin which the luxurious cruise ship sank, the characters and their storylines are entirely fictional. Per the Rotten Tomatoes synopsis of the film:

Upon release, it received 14 nominations at the Academy Awards,and would end up winning 11 of them. Luckily, things would work out for the director, asTitanicwas a wildly successful movie.
First, it became the first ever film to pass the $1 billion mark at the box office. Then, it became the highest-grossing film ever made when it made $1.8 billion, surpassing the previous record-holder,Jurassic Park. Subsequent releases have taken its box office earnings to $2.2 billion. The critical reception was also great, and today it has a Rotten Tomatoes critics' score of 88%.

Curiously, the first film to beatTitanic’s record for highest-grossing film of all time was a Cameron feature as well. 2009’sAvatarmade a whopping $2.9 billion at the box office upon release. AlthoughAvengers: EndgamepassedAvataras the record-holder, Cameron’s sci-fi action film surpassed the MCU film again in 2021 when it was re-released in China.
