Ever since New Line’sJumanji 2was announced, fans haven’t been sure what to call it. Back in August, before production started,Dwayne Johnsonrevealed that this story is not a reboot, but “rather a continuation of the awesomeJumanjistory.” Production wrapped just a few days ago, withJack Blackrecently spotted at The Grove in Los Angeles, where he gave a few more details about this comedy adventure. When asked about this highly-anticipated sequel, the actor revealed that the lateRobin Williamswould have been proud, while calling this version a “revitalization” of the story.
“Robinwould be proud. I loveRobininJumanji, the original, so we had big shoes to fill. But I think we did a good job. It’s different, you know? It’s not a sequel. It’s a revitalization.”
The actor was spotted at The Grove byTMZ, and while Black didn’t divulge any plot details, he did add that he hopes this movie is “as fun for the audience as it was for us to make it. We had a blast.“Dwayne Johnsontook to his Instagram account last week to share one final video from the set, while sharing his thoughts onJumanji 2as production wrapped. Here’s what he had to say below.
“That’s an official wrap on #JUMANJI! (just wait to the end of this to hear what @jackblack felt he had to announce;). As I’m saying in this vid, I can’t express my gratitude enough for our incredibly hard working and brilliant production crew - the backbone and spirit of our business. THANK YOU and look forward to seeing you all down the road. We made a great movie that honors and evolves the cool and dangerous #Jumanji mythology - one that that I think the world’s gonna dig. And finally, like so many of us,Robin Williamswas a hero of mine and one of the main reasons why I signed on and wanted to make and produce this film. Pay homage to the legend of “Alan Parrish” (name of Robin’s character in the original). Thank you to the William’s family for their support. I truly believe we made something you guys will be proud of. Until then that’s a DJ wrap. And to quote ol' Luke the Drifter, Hank Williams himself… If the good Lord’s willin' and the creek don’t rise, I’ll see you down the road.”
