In just a few weeks, Netflix will roll out its fourth Marvel TV series whenIron Fistdebuts, which will introduce fans to another iconic Marvel Comics character, Danny Rand, played byFinn Jones. Like most Marvel superheroes, theIron Fisthas a distinct and iconic costume, but we’ve gotten no glimpse of this costume in the trailers and photos released thus far. It seems there is a good reason we haven’t seen the costume, with showrunnerScott Buckrevealing in a new interview that Danny Rand never wears his costume in the first season.

We have seen a number of set photos fromThe Defendersas production continues, but there has been no indication yet that Danny Rand will have a full costume in that series. During an interview with SFX Magazine, courtesy ofGames Radar,Iron FistshowrunnerScott Buckreveals why fans won’t seeIron Fistin full costume.

“There was no good reason we could imagine to putDanny Randin a costume. Because Danny Rand is still discovering who he is as a hero and where he is going to be, so he’s not yet ready to put on a mask or a costume. At the same time he is someone who is rather well known as a billionaire, so he can’t necessarily go out in public and do the things he does without being recognized. It does become an issue for the character.”

The series centers on billionaire Danny Rand ({Finn Jones{), who is back in New York City after being missing for fifteen years, after being presumed dead in a plane crash. He mysteriously returns to his home town determined to reclaim his birthright and family company, but, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist. Iron Fist will stream the first season in its entirety starting at 12:01am PT on August 17, 2025, in all territories where Netflix is available. The Netflix original series Iron Fist is the fourth of four epic live-action adventure series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage which are now streaming, all leading up to the teaming of the main characters in The Defenders) to premiere only on Netflix. The drama will premiere with thirteen (13) one-hour episodes. Netflix has not announced when The Defenders will air yet, but production is already under way, with the show believed to premiere later this year on thestreaming service. Here’s what Scott Buck had to say about the mystical side of this series.

“We’re trying to keep things extremely grounded and real and tell our stories through characters. So the mystical aspect is something we like to hint at, the idea that there is something bigger and larger out there, but we don’t delve into it all that deeply.”

Carrie-Anne Mosswill be reprising her role fromJessica Jonesas lawyer Jeri Hogarth, who will be giving Danny Rand a helping hand as he returns to New York.
