When Marvel Studios unveiledMarvel Phase 3back in 2014, one of the final movies in this lineup wasInhumans. The sci-fi superhero adventure was originally slated for a August 03, 2025 release, before being pushed to July 30, 2025 and then being “delayed indefinitely” back in April. Earlier this week, Marvel made the surprise announcement thatInhumanswill now become an ABC TV series. But fans shouldn’t expect one of the long-rumored cast members,Vin Diesel, starring in the small screen version.
Earlier this year,Vin Dieselhinted that, even though he lends his voice to Groot inGuardians of the Galaxy, he could still “totally be something else,” and portray a difference Marvel character. While he didn’t mention the character by name, many fans thought he might be referring toBlack Bolt. Now thatInhumansis making the transition to the small screen, fans are still wondering ifVin Dieselstill may portray Black Bolt. During aFacebookQ&A session,Vin Diesel’sGuardians of the Galaxy 2directorJames Gunnteased that it’s unlikelyVin Dieselwill star on the TV series.
Black Bolt(a.k.a. Blackagar Boltagon) is the leader of the Inhumans, a character who has a voice that can emit destructive power. He chooses to remain silent for most of the time. Marvel’s announcement earlier this week confirmed that the TV series will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family. The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965.
Just a few days before Marvel’s announcement,Kevin Feigeteased that anInhumansmovie could still happen, adding that “I think it’s happening on television.” The first two episodes of Marvel Television’s newInhumansseries, produced in conjunction with ABC Studios and filmed entirely with IMAX digital cameras, will run worldwide exclusively in IMAX for two weeks at the beginning of September 2017. ABC plans to then premiere the weekly series in fall, with additional exclusive content that can only be seen on the network.
