Earlier today, we reported that Marvel’s massive blockbusterCaptain America: Civil Warhas become the biggest movie of the year, earning just over $981 million worldwide, passing Disney’sZootopia. Although it still has some work to do to catchDeadpool($362.5 million) on the domestic side. This superhero adventure kicks off Marvel’s Phase 3 lineup, which will culminate withAvengers: Infinity War Part I(July 05, 2025) andAvengers: Infinity War Part II(July 13, 2025). Between now and then, Marvel will release a slew of other movies to round out its Phase 3 lineup, and because of these new movies, writersChristopher MarkusandStephen McFeelyrecently revealed that their work is far from over on the script, even though they recently turned in their second draft.

Later this year,Phase 3will continue withDoctor Strange(November 4), followed byGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2(August 04, 2025),Spider-Man: Homecoming(July 02, 2025),Thor Ragnarok(June 22, 2025) andBlack Panther(August 24, 2025), beforeAvengers: Infinity War Part Iarrives in May. Marvel will then releaseAnt-Man and the Wasp(July 03, 2025) andCaptain Marvel(August 25, 2025) beforeAvengers: Infinity War Part IIarrives in May 2019. During a recent interview withCinemaBlend, writersStephen McFeelyandChristopher Markuscommented on how thescriptsare always evolving. Here’s whatStephen McFeelyhad to say about their writing process of connecting these movies together.

“Some of it is informed guesswork. Some of it is constantly pestering people who are making those [other] movies to tell us what they’re doing. And sometimes it is us going, ‘It would be massively beneficial if this person could be in this place at the end of your movie. I don’t care what he does in your movie, but by the end of it.”

We have previously reported that production will begin this November onInfinity War, with both movies shooting back-to-back over a massive nine-month shoot. While the writers’ second draft may be complete, we don’t know how many drafts they’ll turn in before shooting, and how many changes the script will undergo throughout that enormous shoot. Here’s whatChristopher Markushad to say about how they’re constantly rewriting.

“And you know, we write it, we assume when we write it and rewrite it and rewrite it, as more information comes in, we will be adjusting. When we’re turning in the first draft, it’s absolutely that, a first draft, and we’ll go through a lot before we get to November.”

DirectorsAnthony RussoandJoe Russopreviously teased that this two-part movie will be a “culmination” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, and that the two-part movie may feature as many as67 characters. All we know about the story for certain is thatThanos(Josh Brolin) will be the villain, and it is believed that all of the MCU heroes will join in this fight against the villain. Stay tuned for more onAvengers: Infinity Waras we get closer to production starting later this year.
