When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.

Today,Sony Pictureshas released the first trailer for this exciting third movie in theRobert Langdonseries, which brings our first look at footage. Sony Pictures has set an October 28 release date forInferno, putting it up against Paramount’sRingsand an untitled horror film from Lionsgate. It isn’t known if the filmmakers andTom Hankswill team up to adaptDan Brown’s thirdRobert Langdon novel,The Lost Symbol, which was originally in development afterAngels & Demons. Although the filmmakers decided to skip over that novel and makeInfernoinstead, based on the book of the same name that was published in 2013.
BothThe Da Vinci Code($758.2 million worldwide) andAngels & Demons($485.9 million worldwide) were substantial hits at the box office, but we’ll have to wait and see ifTom HanksandRon Howardcan make it three blockbusters in a row withInferno. This latest sneak peek opens with a tantalizing set up. There is a switch. If thrown, half the people on earth will die. But if it isn’t thrown, the human race will be extinct in one hundred years.
