Chris Pine and director Patty Jenkins proved to be the prefect team with 2017’sWonder Woman, which was a smash hit at the box office. They will once again reunite for a sequel to that DC adventure calledWonder Woman 1984, but that doesn’t hit theaters until 2020. So, in the meantime, the duo have partnered up on a new miniseries. We have the new trailer forI Am the Night, and it looks pretty exciting.

Written by Sam Sheridan and inspired by true events,I Am the Nighttells the gripping story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a teenage girl who is given away at birth, and grows up outside of Reno, Nevada. Fauna lives more-or-less comfortably with the mysteries of her origin, until one day she makes a discovery that leads her to question everything.

As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets of her past, she meets a ruined reporter (Chris Pine), haunted by the case that undid him. Together they follow a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Los Angeles gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel (Jefferson Mays ), a man involved in some of Hollywood’s darkest debauchery, and possibly, its most infamous unsolved crime.

Jenkins directsI Am the Night, which is written by Sheridan.The series is produced byTurner’s Studio T, with Jenkins, Michael Sugar (13 Reasons Why,Spotlight), Pine and Sheridan serving as executive producers. Carl Franklin (House of Cards, Homeland) and Victoria Mahoney (Claws ) each direct two episodes.

After making her directorial feature debut with the Oscar winning dramaMonster, which brought Charlize Theron a Best Actress win, Jenkins turned to directing on the small screen. She helmed an episode of the hit comedyArrested Developmentbefore moving onto episodes of HBO’sEntourageand AMC’sThe Killing. Fourteen years would pass before she returned to directing movies withWonder Womanin 2017, which proved to be the DCEU’s biggest hit up until that time. Jenkins is also an executive producer onI Am The Night.
