A Christmas tragedy was revealed today as news ofHudson Meek’s death spread online. The 16-year-old passed away on December 21, two days after he reportedly fell from a moving vehicle and sustained severe injuries from which he never recovered. The actor was best known for his role in 2017’sBaby Driver, playing a young version of the character Baby – the older version of whom was played by Ansel Elgort in the movie.
Details made available by Jefferson County Coroner’s Office stated that Meek received blunt force trauma, and was taken to UAB Hospital, where, according toWTVM, he died from his injuries. The same report says that he actor’s death is currently being investigated.
Meek was born in 2008, and made his professional debut in 2014 with the television movieThe Santa Conwith Melissa Joan Hart. The actor was seen as a promising rising star in Hollywood, especially following his role inEdgar Wright’s acclaimed 2017 movie. A family statement released on Instagram read:
“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met. Specific details regarding a Celebration of Hudson’s Life to be held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School in lieu of flowers, will follow.”

Meek was reportedly lining up several new roles for 2025, following on from roles in TV shows such asMacGyver, Genius, and the thriller,The School Duel– which was his most recent release in September 2024.

Hudson, we will miss you.”William Pitts echoed the sentiment with,“I am heartbroken for the Meek family and for our community. I never knew Hudson that well, but it didn’t take much to know what an amazingly kindhearted and genuine person he was. He will be very missed.”Another friend of Meek’s added,“Rest easy buddy, thank you for always bringing energy and a smile to everything you did. You had a special gift to make sure everyone around you was happy. Going to be missed for sure.”
