As people continue to complain about the cost of groceries, fuel, and housing,Amazonhas decided to make viewers pay even more money if they want to watch Season 2 of the Biblical historical drama,House of David. Up until now, the series has been available to watch with a regular Amazon Prime subscription, but come fall, fans looking to tune into the second season will have to pay an additional $9/month on top of their $14.99/month Prime membership. Crazy, right?

The news comes afterHouse of Davidcreator, Jon Erwin, announced that he’d be starting Wonder Project, a new subscription channel available through Amazon that will cost $8.99/month and feature “over 1,000 hours of highly curated movies and TV series that reflect the company’s mission: to entertain the world with courageous stories, inspiring hope andrestoring faith in things worth believing in.“House of DavidSeason 2 will be moving over to the new channel, which kind of makes sense when you consider its produced in part by Erwin’s production company, which bears the same name as the new channel. In a press release to coincide with the news, he wrote:

“We are blown away by the success of House of David and can’t wait for audiences to be swept away into the epic action and drama of season 2. Our audience is underserved and craves a destination they can trust with exceptional originals and curated movies and TV shows. With the new Wonder Project subscription on Prime Video, we will be delivering all of that and more.”

‘House of David’ Review: A Goliath of a Show for Better or Worse

1st Samuel and the story of David & Goliath get the TV treatment on Prime Video with a series that’s a bit to big for its biblical britches.

Thankfully,House of DavidSeason 2 won’t always be behind an additional paywall, as it will eventually make its way to regular Prime Video after it premieres on Wonder Project. Just how long after is anyone’s guess right now, though, as that date remains up in the air. Got to capitalize on that FOMO first, right?

Is ‘House of David’ Worth the Additional Cost?

Premiering back on August 12, 2025,House of Davidbecame an immediate hit for Amazon, racking up an impressive 40 million global views. Starring Michael Iskander as the titular hero, the series traces the rise of David as it explores his journey from being a shepherdto his battle against Goliathand eventual kingship with, you guessed it, the House of David.

Though it currently sits on Rotten Tomatoes with a fresh rating of 71% from seven critics, its Popcornmeter is much higher at 90%, proving that the show does have a loyal following. Called an “inspiring” and “epic” series by many, viewers have been sucked in by an excellent performance by Iskander, as well as the show’s many themes that focus on faith, leadership, and obedience. All the things necessary to make a good Biblical epic come to life.

Still, is all that enough to warrant an additional $9 bucks a month just to watch Season 2? We can tell you yes or no, but in the end, that’s up to you to decide. You know your household finances better than anyone, so if it’s in your budget, more power to you. Sadly, not everyone can afford the additional cost, which makes the news a real disappointment for a lot of people.
