Breaking the fourth wall, Claire says, “My Turn.” In the new teaser for Season 6, Claire wishes herself a happy Independence Day and then the screen flashes to black with the My Turn hashtag. It’s brief, but it’s a powerful reminder thatHouse of Cardsis moving on without Kevin Spacey.
Kevin Spacey was fired fromHouse of Cardsback in November of last year afteractor Anthony Rapp went public with his allegationsagainst Spacey. Rapp claimed that when he was 14-years old, the older actor attempted to sexually assault him. After that, the floodgates opened and men from Los Angeles as well as London came forward with similar stories of assault andsexual misconduct. Director Ridley Scott decided to completely erase Spacey fromAll the Money in the Worldand replace him with Christopher Plummer. Additionally,Netflixcanceled the actor’s Gore Vidal biopic, which he was to star in.
TheHouse of CardsSeason 6 teaser comes after Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual assault by three more men in England, bringing the total to 6 allegations that are currently under police investigation. Actor Guy Pearce also recently told a story about working on 1997’sL.A. Confidentialwith Spacey in which he insinuated that the actor had touched him inappropriately while on set. Spacey’s former publicist claimed that the actor was seeking unspecified treatment late last year.
If any of the police investigations end up going to court, there’s a chance that Kevin Spacey could end up behind bars like Harvey Weinstein, who could be facing up to life in prison for his sexual predatory behavior over the years.
