As you very well know by now, 2016 is an election year, but we still have several months until the Republican and Democratic candidates are announced at each party’s national convention this summer. Fans will be privy to another political race much sooner, whenSeason 4ofHouse of Cardsdebuts Friday, March 4. Today,Netflixhas released a brief teaser for this new season ofHouse of Cards, which shows one of Frank Underwood’s (Kevin Spacey) new campaign posters, in a unique location.
The teaser showcases an arrangement of flowers lying on a subway track, which is perhaps a cryptic homage to theSeason 2premiere episode, where Frank Underwood pushed his lover Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) in front of a train. We then see one of Underwood’s new campaign posters, which states that the current President is “putting America back on track.” Could this trailer tease that it might be Underwood himself who will be thrown in front of a train this season? Or at least that his political career is coming off the rails?
House of Cards Season 3ended with on a bittersweet note for Underwood, who was named as the Democratic party’s nominee for the 2016 election, but the final moments showed that his longtime wife Claire (Robin Wright) is leaving him, right in the middle of the campaign, following a violent fight the previous evening. Will The First Lady come back and stand by her man as the Presidential campaign heats up? We’ll find out for sure in just a few short months.
Over the last few months, Netflix has rolled out a number ofpromosthat teased Underwood’s campaign strategy, including the release of a viral websiteFU2016.com. We haven’t seen much actual footage from the new season quite yet, but that will surely change soon, with theseason premiereless than two months away. It remains to be seen howRobin Wrightwill be involved this season, after announcing her plans to leave Frank at the end of last season, but we’ll have to wait and see.
