Henry Cavillfans still have a lot of love for the Superman star, as his long-forgotten 2019 action movieNight Hunter(also known asNomis) hasstormed to the top of the Paramount+ global movie chart. While Cavill has been having a rough time of late - departing his popular roles in the old DC franchise andhis Netflix fantasy role of Geralt inThe Witcher, and seeing his subsequent roles inArgylleandThe Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfaredie a slow death at the box office – it seems that he can still come out on top when it comes to the world of streaming.

Night Hunteris a psychological action thriller directed by David Raymond, which sees Cavill taking on the role of a detective in the murky world of child predators, as part of a team looking to track down the man responsible for the kidnapping of the ward of a former judge. There is no shortage of talent in the movie, with Cavill being joined by Ben Kingsley, Stanley Tucci, Minka Kelly, and Nathan Fillion among others. The film originally debuted at the LA Film Festival in 2018 under the title ofNomis, but that was changed before its wider release in 2019 to something clearly meant to appeal to a generation that will judge a movie by its title.

Night Hunter had a dismal theatrical run, becoming a box office bomb that disappeared without trace very quickly.Even its VOD release provided little more than a passing interest, which was certainly not helped by some of Cavill’s worst reviews. The film still holds a pretty pathetic 13% Tomatometer score, even though audiences rate it a much higher – but still “rotten” – 50% on the Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter. However, that hasn’t stopped many latching onto the movie on its debut on Paramount+ this week.

Henry Cavill Streaming Hits

Henry Cavill is an actor who certainly has a large fan base, but recently they haven’t been particularly enthralled by his new theatrical releases. Whilehis biggest fans are arguably only interested in his appearances as Superman or Geralt inThe Witcher, there is still something about him that can draw a strong reaction on streaming.

Night Hunteris another example of a movie that gained very little attention when it was originally released, but its anonymity has certainly helped find it a new audience on streaming. This is certainly not the first time Cavill has seen this kind of belated success. His two big 2024 releases of the Matthew Vaughn spy comedyArgylle, and Guy Ritchie’sThe Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, both severely disappointed at the box office, coming in well below budget.
