It’s only been a few days sinceMillennium Mediaannounced they were working on a newHellboyadaptation, and the movie has already made impressive progress. Jack Kesy, who had a brief appearance inDeadpool 2as black Tom, will give life to the new version of the character, and he already has his famous companions.
Yellowstoneactor Jefferson White andChilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Adeline Rudolph will also be a part of the project, playing Tom Ferrell and Bobbie Jo Song, completing the leading trio for the film, which will be directed by Brian Taylor (Crank).
Hellboy is a fictional superhero who first appeared in San Diego Comic-Con Comics #2 in August 1993 and has since appeared in several eponymous miniseries, one-shots, and crossovers between companies.
The character works for the B.P.R.D., an international non-governmental agency, and fights against dark forces, including Nazis and witches, in a series of tales that have their roots in folklore, pulp magazines, vintage adventures, horror of Lovecraft, and horror fiction. In previous stories, he was identified as the world’s greatest paranormal investigator.
The latestHellboyadaptation premiered in 2019 and starredDavid Harbour, which was a resounding flopat the box office and with critics. In 2004, Ron Perlman starred in Guillermo del Toro’s vision, which achieved great popularity. It even had a sequel in 2008, namedHellboy: The Golden Army.

What to Expect from Hellboy: The Crooked Man
Hellboy: The Crooked Manwill adapt Mike Mignola’s eponymous story, which he delivered in 2008. In this story, Hellboy arrives in Appalachia in the 1950s with a rookie B.P.R.D. agent. They discover a small witch-haunted community led by a local demon with a disturbing connection to Hellboy’s past, known as the Crooked Man.
Taylor teased that this film would be very different from the ones of Guillermo del Toro, which truly marked the character and his representation on the big screen. Instead, the director revealed that he would seek to tell a folk-style horror story similar toThe Witch’s, which closely resembles the aesthetics and plot arcs of the most recentHellboystories.
The film hails from Millennium Media, Dark Horse Entertainment, A Nu Boyana Production, and Campbell Grobman Film. It is produced by Mike Richardson, Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger, Les Weldon, Rob Van Norden, Sam Schulte, and Yariv Lerner.
