Harley Quinn

Harley Quinnpicks up after the popular supervillain finally calls it quits for good with the Joker. Looking to make a name for herself when she’s out from under the Joker’s shadow, Harley teams up with some of Gotham City’s other underappreciated supervillains with the hopes of joining the Legion of Doom. The show has also further explored the relationship between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, dubbed Harlivy, and it’s clear that there won’t be any going back to the Clown Prince of Crime.

“For me, we still have the occasional fan reaction of ‘I don’t like Harley and Ivy together. She should get back with the Joker,'” Schumacker told AV Club in July. “Which we’re never going to do. Harley and Ivy will never break up in the series as long as we have a say. That’s something that we never want to touch again.”

The Harley Quinn World Continues to Expand

It was already clear that the show’s creative team wantHarley Quinnto stick around on HBO Max for as long as possible. In a separate interview with TVLine, Schumacker said the goal was for the series to run just as long asThe Simpsons, feeling that there are plenty of stories to be told in this world.

“I would do the show as long as HBO Max and Warner Bros. want to make the show. The show’s called Harley Quinn, but there’s thousands of characters that exist in the DC Universe that we really can just keep going. We want to be The Simpsons of the DCU.”

Some of those stories are already in the process of getting told outside ofHarley Quinn. A spinoff series, dubbedNoonan’s, iscurrently in the worksat HBO Max as well. The spinoff will feature Kite Man in the central role with other supervillains of the city stopping into his bar, essentially making the show feel a bit likeCheersif it starred the villains from Batman’s rogues gallery. The door is wide open for all kinds of DC characters to appear in the series.

The first three seasons ofHarley Quinnare streaming on HBO Max. Season 4 does not yet have a premiere date.
