This article contains possible spoilers for Halloween EndsHalloweenrebooted its entire franchise in 2018 by releasing a direct sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 classic. Along with the reboot, Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis returned as the series’ final girl, Laurie Strode, promising a heated confrontation between her and Michael Myers after more than forty years since their first battle. Nevertheless, expectations fell short after Laurie narrowly survived her re-encounter with Michael Myers and was bedridden for most of 2021’sHalloween Kills. This October, fans are getting thefinal showdown betweenLaurie Strode and Michael Myers in the new trilogy’s conclusion,Halloween Ends. With multipleHalloween Endstrailersand spoilers circulating online, the question remains, what can be expected of Laurie Strode’s Final Stand against her lifelong tormentor, Michael Myers?
Laurie isn’t Expecting Michael This Time Around
One thing that is always expected of Laurie Strode is her preparation; she is ready for Michael Myers no matter what Halloween night he decides to strike. From her twenty years living under a new identity inHalloween H20to her forty years of training in theHalloween 2018storyline, Laurie Strode isn’t one to patiently wait for Michael Myers to reappear. This time around, fans are getting a different take on the iconic final girl. From the leaked plot summary to interviews with Jamie Lee Curtis herself, this final version of Laurie Strode has overcome the shadow Michael Myers has cast over her entire life. Laurie is working on her memoir, living with her granddaughter, Allyson, and perhaps even dating Deputy Frank Hawkins, as the final trailer shows glimpses of them together. Laurie seems to have adapted a semblance of normalcy in her life, until a tragedy occurs in Haddonfield.
When Allyson’s new boyfriend,Corey Cunningham, is accused of killing the boy he’s babysitting, another killing spree unfolds in the small town and Laurie once again becomes a target. Afterfour years of peace, Laurie Strode is just as vulnerable as anyone else Michael Myers targets. The stakes are higher than ever as Laurie isn’t only confronted by Michael Myers, but also by a copycat killer that initiates the bloodbath that prompts Michael’s reappearance.

Trailers Give Away a Lot of Spoilers
As aforementioned, the trailers give away a lot of details surrounding Laurie and Michael’s confrontation. From Laurie opening her front door to allow Michael entry, to her popping out of a kitchen closet to attack Michael by surprise, to shots of their publicized kitchen fight, Michael will get his hands on Laurie one way or another. Despite her years of rest, it seems Laurie still retains her training skills as she’s seen gaining the upper hand at some point during the fight, pinning Michael down to a kitchen counter and unmasking him, but then there’s every other shot of Michael throwing Laurie across the same kitchen counter and almost destroying her hand using a garbage disposal. With film editing, viewers never know the exact shot continuity used in trailers, what will come first in the film and what will come last. What can be speculated is that this fight is the first of two showdowns, as promotional clips show a bandaged Laurie being approached by Allyson the day after her showdown with Michael Myers. There are also recent behind-the-scenes clips that show Laurie and Allyson standing in the seeming aftermath of their fight with Michael, bloodied but very much alive.

Jamie Lee Curtis Has Confirmed This is Her Final Halloween Film
This isn’t the first time Jamie Lee Curtis has departed theHalloweenfranchise. Between the events ofHalloween 2andHalloween 4, the storyline established that Laurie Strode’s character died in a car crash. When the franchise was rebooted in 1998 with the release ofHalloween H20, Jamie Lee Curtis returned as Laurie Strode in a traumatized version very similar to theHalloween 2018incarnation of the character. InHalloween Resurrection, Laurie once again meets her demise during a sanatorium rooftop battle against Michael, only to be resurrected when the franchise was (once again) rebooted by director David Gordon Green. Nevertheless, all these departures have been somewhat unofficial as Jamie Lee Curtis never made public commentary about her exit during promotional interviews.
As the release date forHalloween Endsnears, Jamie Lee Curtis has done several interviews where she confirms that this will be her lastHalloweenfilm. Through several, tearful commentary, she further elaborates there will be a fight between her and Michael Myers, a"final reckoning.“Whether that means Laurie will perish or remain standing by the film’s finale remains uncertain, but this will definitely be a bittersweet installment for fans ofJamie Lee Curtisas she puts her most memorable character to rest.
