New images fromScream, the fifth entry in Wes Craven’s iconic meta-horror franchise, have arrived and show Ghostface ready to kill again. The pictures feature a bloody knife, a potential victim, and a badass Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) on the hunt for the killer. Sharing its title with the original movie,Screamis a continuation of Wes Craven’s films and introduces a new, younger generation of characters that are being terrorized by Ghostface. David Arquette and Courteney Cox reprise their roles as franchise regulars Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers, with Marley Shelton returning as Judy Hicks fromScream 4and Roger L. Jackson as the voice of Ghostface.

Paramount Pictures recently released the images via Total Film. The photos also confirm that 261 Turner Lane, or the Macher house - the finale setting ofScream(1996), will appear inScream(2022). It is owned by one of the new characters in the film. In the images, Sidney is also seen in the house brandishing a gun. And for those wondering who that person is lying in front of Ghostface, it’s Kyle Gallner as a character named Vince.

With only a couple of months left beforeScreampremieres, marketing is in full swing for the film. The official trailer forScreamdropped last month to a great reception from fans and has everyone stoked to know what’s in store for their favorite characters. Plot details are deliberately being kept scarce to contain spoilers and deliver a movie that’s just as fun and unpredictable as the previous ones. Who will be the killer this time? Well, not even the cast membersknow the answer to that, as multiple scripts were handed to them and several endings were filmed.

Ready or Nothelmers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directScreamfrom a script penned by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac,The Amazing Spider-Man) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not,Castle Rock). Kevin Williamson, the writer of the original, is on board as an executive producer and has assured that Wes Craven’s legacy is in good hands. Speaking of legacy, the final girl of the original,Sidney Prescott, and friends Dewey and Gale, are not the victims this time. In fact, they are the ones chasing after the mysterious killer to protect a group of unsuspecting teenagers in Woodsboro. We also learned from the trailer that the new killer is targeting people related to the original Ghostface killers.

The new cast members include Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ben Ammar, Mikey Madison, and Kyle Gallner. Neve Campbell revealed to Total Film why she returned to the franchise, saying, “I had been apprehensive about the idea of Scream being revived by somebody else. When the film came up, I thought, ‘Oh, no!’. And then I watchedReady or Not, and I realized that they were superbly talented, and that their movie was certainly in keeping with the tone of the Scream movies. And in the letter, they said that they became directorsbecause of Wes Craven, and because of theScreammovies. And so it just seemed like the right fit.”

Does Ghostface get the better of Sidney this time? Will Dewey finally die? Is Stu Macher alive? All questions will be answered and fan theories put to rest whenScreamreleases next year. Paramount Pictures will releaseScreaminmovie theaterson July 16, 2025. The new photos were published atGamesRadar.
