DirectorPaul Feigis on a role. Yesterday he accused some of the bigger media outlets of leaking his surprise cameos in the upcomingGhostbustersreboot. He then went on the offensive against some of his meanercritics. Now, he’s decided to beat everyone else to the punch, announcing the addition of yet another originalGhostbusterscast member. Previously announced stars from the 1984 classic already includeBill Murray,Dan AykroydandErnie Hudson. They will now be joined bySigourney Weaver, who is getting a cameo.
Sigourney Weaveroriginally appeared in 1984’sGhostbusters, and reprised her role as Dana Barrett (aka The Gate Keeper) inGhostbusters 2. But don’t go looking for a resolution to her on-again, off-again romance withBill Murray’s Dr. Peter Venkman. This newGhostbusterstakes place in analternate universe, where the original Haint Hunters never existed. It isn’t known what roleSigourney Weavermay play in this franchise reboot.

News ofErnie Hudson’scameoarrived last weekend, asGhostbustersofficially wrapped shooting. There is no word on his role in the movie either.Bill Murrayis believed to be playing a man out to debunk the spook-busting girls and theirghoststheories.Dan Aykroydis playing a cab driver who givesKristen Wiiga lift. While we’re not sure how many call backs the film will have to the original, we do know thatDan Aykroydwill get to say the iconic line, ‘I aint afraid of no ghosts.’ Nothing else about the three originalGhostbustersand their appearance in the movie has been revealed.
Plot details for this remake have never been officially released. One rumor claims that, years ago,Kristen Wiig’s Erin Gilbert wrote a book withMelissa McCarthy’s Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), which reveals that ghosts are real. Erin loses her teaching job at Columbia University once word of her book resurfaces, so she re-teams with Abby and her new partner, Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones). Together, they must save New York from a supernatural threat.

The supporting cast includesChris Hemsworthas theGhostbusters' secretary andAndy Garciaas the Mayor of New York City, alongsideMichael K. Williams,Matt Walsh, Pat Kiernan andNeil Casey. We’ve includedPaul Feig’s officialSigourney Weaver tweethere. Yesterday, the filmmaker addressed the media, revealing that any cameo announcements were not official and leaked from the set, which was “overrun by paparazzi.” The firstGhostbusterstrailer is expected to drop this December, just in time for Christmas. Are you happier about the movie now that most of the original main cast is back? Or will this only mean something once they officially landRick Moranis?
