Over the past few weeks, Disney XD has been airing new promos forStar Wars: The Force Awakens, which offers new footage and takes fansbehind-the-sceneson the set. Comic Book Resources has discovered another one of these promos, which gives us a brief new look atCarrie Fisher’s General Leia Organa, who is seen smiling atDaisy Ridley’s Rey. Most of the other footage has already been seen in previously-released trailers and TV spots, but this new look at Leia and Rey is well worth checking out.

This weekend, the cast and crew ofStar Wars: The Force Awakensmade the press rounds, with directorJ.J. Abramsrevealing new details about Leia in an interview withIGN. At the end ofStar Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, many fans were wondering if Leia would also become a Jedi, since she shares the same strength with The Force as her brotherLuke Skywalker(Mark Hamill). Here’s whatJ.J. Abramshad to say about why Leia isn’t a Jedi inStar Wars: The Force Awakens.

Force Awakens

“In talking about this, even withGeorge Lucas, the question came up of at what age can someone learn The Force and become a Jedi? I would like to think that there really isn’t much of a ticking clock and that it’s never too late. It was a question, and one we talked about quite a lot, even withCarrie (Fisher). If there was another, why did she not take advantage of this natural Force strength, that this character had? One of the answers was that it was simply a choice that she made. That her decision to run the Rebellion, and ultimately this Resistance, and consider herself a General, as opposed to a Jedi, it was simply a choice that she took. Not that there was any regret that she could have and didn’t, but clearly we’ve seen, and we do again, that she’s still Force strong, and it’s something that is an intrinsic piece of her character.”

We reported last month thatLeia Organais now a General in the Resistance, while the director revealed earlier this week that there is a scene inStar Wars: The Force Awakenswhere an unidentified character “slips” and calls her Princess. The director also revealed that Leia is under a lot of pressure, but is still committed to her cause. Hopefully we’ll get to see even more footage with Leia, with just 11 days left untilStar Wars: The Force Awakensfinally arrives in theaters.

Star Wars: The Force Awakenshas already brokenbox officerecords, less than a month before it hits theaters.
