We won’t get to see a new episode ofGame of Thronesfor almost two more months! But that doesn’t mean we aren’t getting new footage from the show. TheGame of Thrones Season 5footage is from the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD set that arrives in two weeks. It is actually a rather important scene, but once you see it, you’ll understand why it got cut. As it foreshadow’s one of the season’s biggest, most talked about, most debated scenes of the past year.
CapturedWildlingTormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) tensely squares off with theNight’s Watch’s menacing Master-at-ArmsSer Alliser Thorne(Owen Teale). The pair are staring each other down in the courtyard at Castle Black. And they seemingly seal the fate ofJon Snow. Who may or may not be dead when Game of Thrones Season 6 kicks off with all-new episodes this spring.
This excised scene comes fromGame of Thrones Season 5episode #5Kill the Boy. The footage highlights the Night’s Watch and their internal power struggle in dealing with the Wildling army’s migration. This leads Thorne to orchestrating the untimely demise of one Lord Commander Jon Snow (Kit Harington). And if you watch closley, you’ll see Thorne’s subtle lip twitch when he’s taunted by Tormund about no longer being in control of the doomed situation. In this scene, you’ll even get to see Tormund make a joke.
All 10Game of Thrones Season 5episodes will be coming home on Blu-ray and DVD March 15. This gives fans more than a month to either catch-up or relive all the events leading to the big Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere. HBO is set to premiere all-new episodes of the hit fantasy series on April 24. And we may or may not learn the true fate of Jon Snow at that time.
The upcoming Blu-ray and DVD set will include more deleted scenes and audio commentary on select episodes. There is also an in-depth documentary that looks at the real-life European history that inspired author George R.R. Martin.
