When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team, lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams), is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers. To find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
Last week, Paramount Pictures released theteaser trailerforArrival. Today, we get the full trailer, which continues the story of linguist Banks as she races against the clock to stop alien annihilation on a global scale. This latest sneak peek further explains the alien invasion, how they communicate, and why other countries around the world may not have the patience to wait before all out war breaks the planet in half.
Jeremy Rennerstars as a theoretical physicist who is trying to determine what the aliens really want alongside Banks. The story is based onTed Chiang’s 1998 novellaStory Of Your Life, which was the original title of movie when it was entering production last year. This unique and timely story touches on the global community’s fear of the aliens, as they share information with one another while harboring their own agendas.Jeremy Rennersays that the film will show “the divide in the unity with people across the world”. About the aliens, who are teased in thisnew footage,Amy Adamsexplains that these scenes involved “awesome puppeteers who ran around holding very long poles with big orbs on the end.”
The supporting cast includesForest Whitaker,Michael StuhlbargandTzi Ma, withDenis Villeneuvedirecting from an adapted screenplay byEric Heisserer(Lights Out). The movie will hit theaters on November 11, going up against Universal’sAlmost Christmas, TriStar’sBilly Lynn’s Long Halftime Walkand EuropaCorp’sShut In. The movie will also debut just one week after Marvel’s highly-anticipatedDoctor Strange, which could be a huge hit this fall.
