Constance Wu

When it was announced thatFresh Off the Boathad been renewed for a season,Constance Wushared a series of tweets expressing her frustration. This prompted intense social media backlash, with Wu being told that she had “become a blight on the Asian-American community.” She clarified her tweets by revealing that the renewal ofFresh Off the Boatmeant she had to drop out of a passion project, but there was more to the story than her critics initially thought. She lateropened up about her traumasurrounding a senior producer that had sexually harassed, intimidated, and threatened her during the first two seasons of the show.

Outside ofFresh Off the Boat, Wu, of course, portrayed the lead character in 2018’sCrazy Rich Asians. The groundbreaking success of the film led to sequels swiftly being announced, but it’s still not known when they will be hitting theaters.
