Back in February, we reported that a number of genre icons were coming together for a new film entitledDeath House, which has been dubbedThe Expendables of Horror. At the time, we didn’t known when production would begin, or if a release date had been set. Today, we have word that principal photography is about to wrap, and the filmmakers are eyeing a late 2016 or early 2017 release date. Photos from this horror-thriller have also been released, giving us our first look at legends such asKane Hodder,Dee Wallaceand many more.
Two federal agents fight their way through nine levels of Hell inside a secret prison known as the Death House. A facility-wide prison break turns their flight into a tour of horrors as they push toward the ultimate evil housed in the lowest depths of the earth. Entertainment Factory’sDeath Houseis about to wrap principal photography in Philadelphia, PA. Dubbed the “Expendablesof Horror,” the film blasts an ensemble of legendary genre names asDee Wallace,Barbara Crampton,Kane Hodder,Tony Todd,Bill Moseley,Michael Berryman,Debbie Rochon,Sid Haig,Bill Oberst, and a number of other official surprises. The movie also features the last performance from originalLeatherfacehimselfGunnar Hansen, who passed away in November 2015 after filming was completed. The film is a nod towardclassic horrorbut presenting a fresh, new story inspired from Lovecraft and Dante. Practical effects are mastered through the wizardry ofRoy Knyrim’s SOTA FX (Gods and Monsters,Ed Wood). The film’s release is slated for late 2016/early 2017 depending on distribution scheduling. With the release of these photos, and principal photography coming to a close, hopefully the first trailer is just around the corner.

DirectorHarrison Smithhas previously said thatDeath Housewill blend the grittiness ofAssault on Precinct 13with the gore ofSawand the action ofJurassic Park. Other classics such asEscape From New York,Resident EvilandThe Wizard of Ozalso provided inspiration for this unique tale.
