In June, it waswidely reportedthat Universal is set to rebootArnold Schwarzenegger’s 1990action comedyhitKindergarten Cop. Though, themuscles from Brusselswouldn’t be participating in any way. Now we have confirmation that this will actually be a sequel, tentatively titledKindergarten Cop 2. And guess what? It starsArnold Schwarzenegger’sExpendablesco-starDolph Lundgren! Don’t believe us? We have the first look at theaction legendon set.

Maybe Kindergarten Cop 2 with Dolph Lundgren sounds so ridiculous that you may’t fathom such a thing. But90s nostalgiais in full-force, and while a Kindergarten Cop 2 might not be worthy of a big screen release, enough kids who are now adults remember it, and will probably give it a change once it hits home video in 2016. At this time, there is no confirmed release date. But we may see the first trailer aroundChristmastime.

A vague outline of the plot has surfaced online, along with the first set photos, thanks toManly Movies. The set-up is very similar to the 1990 original. Dolph Lundgren stars as a cop who must go undercover as a kindergarten teacher. He is desperately searching for a flash drive that has gone missing from the Federal Witness protection company. It’s speculated that an unknown evil entity is out to find a witness and kill them off, and it’s up to Dolph to save the day.

Dolph Lundgren isn’t alone on this mission, and this is where it gets a little bit weird (and may make this a must-see). The movie is channelingThe Lone Rangerby giving Dolph Lundgren an Indian sidekick named Sanjit. The pair team up to take down the bad guys, who are described as Albanians. The film will incorporate laughs and action at an equal pace, and like the first movie, it will play to a more kid friendly audience than some of Dolph Lundgren’s more recent action outings.

Don Michael Paul is directing this Direct-to-VOD and DVD outing. He also directed the sequelJarhead 2: Field of Firefor the home market. David H. Steinberg is responsible for the screenplay. He gave the world National Lampoon’s Barely Legal and American Pie Presents: The Book of Love, so you know he knows comedy.

Kindergarten Cop 2 isn’t Dolph Lundgren’s first foray into family entertainment. His third starring role in a movie was as He-Man in the 1987Masters of the Universe, which is gearing up for its own remake. Since then, though, he has stuck pretty firmly to heavy action and R rated drama. Who knows, this sequel may open up a whole new audience for the Swedish actor, director, painter and martial artist. He is a certified genius, no joke, so he must know what he is doing. Take a look as he corrals his class of youngsters in the first photos from set. There are rumors that this may spinoff into a TV series. Will it, too, star Dolph Lundgren? If so, we can only hope that it happens on Fox and that we get aNew Girlcrossover out of the deal.
