MoreFire Countryis on the way at CBS. PerVariety, it’s just been announced that the series has been officially renewed for season 2. When the series premeired in October 2022, it was that fall’s most-watched series debut. Soon after, the show was given a full season order at CBS, showcasing how happy the network was with the early success ofFire Country. Variety also reports that the show has since been averaging over 10 million viewers per episode after eight episodes aired,

Addressing the renewal in a statement, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach said, “It’s pretty remarkable to see a new series resonate like this with both broadcast and streaming audiences right out of the gate.Fire Countryhas so many appealing entry points for the audience. It combines high-stakes action withsmall towncharm, mystery and romance, and a family franchise at its core. We’re blessed to have an incredible team in front of and behind the camera led by amazing producers and writers and an exceptionally talented cast.”

Fire Countrywas created by Max Theirot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater. Jerry Bruckheimer executive produces the series with Thieriot, Phelan, Rater, Jonathan Littman, and KristieAnne Reed. The series stars Theiriot, Kevin Alejandro, Jordan Calloway, Stephanie Arcila, Jules Latimer, Diane Farr, Billy Burke, Michael Trucco, and Jade Pettyjohn.

Fire Country Will Continue

The series stars Thieriot as Bode Donovan, a convict hoping to reduce his prison sentence by volunteering for the California Conservation Camp Program, assisting the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Donovan gets assigned to his hometown where he ends up working alongside former friends as well as other inmates andelite firefightersas they take on huge fires plaguing the region.

“It’s really rewarding,” has said of the show’s success in a new interview withCollider. “It’s funny, in the beginning, people kept asking me, whether it was family, friends, or whoever, “Are you so excited?” After episode one aired and the numbers came out, and then again after episode two, I got the same question. Both weeks, my first response was, ‘Yeah, I’m excited, but in front of that is a sense of relief.'”

He further explained, “I know the show is good. I know what we have. I know we have incredible actors. I know the scripts are awesome. I know the visual effects are great. We have all these things that are going for us, but you still don’t know. You don’t know what audience you’re gonna find or how they’re gonna respond. So, the first big thing was a big sigh of relief that was like, “Okay, alright, we’re good.'”

Fire Countryairs on Fridays, and a special episode will air on Jan. 29 after the AFC Championship game. Episodes can also be found streaming on Paramount+.
