Deadpool 2needs a new director after losingTim Millera few days ago. If a certain, emerging group of fans have their way, that director will beQuentin Tarantino. A petition has surfaced online which is calling for thePulp FictionandInglourious Basterdsdirector to step in and make his mark on the world ofsuperhero movies.

The petition was started onChange.orgby a man namedCarl Champion Jr.and as of this writing has 1,035 signatures. He reasoned that movies likeKill Billgive us a taste of whatQuentin Tarantinocould do with a character likeDeadpool, which seems pretty fair. He also mentioned how fun it would be to have him write dialogue forRyan ReynoldsasDeadpool. Granted,Rhett ReeseandPaul Wernickare still onboard to writeDeadpool 2at the moment, but it is still something fun to think about. Here is whatCarl Champion Jr.had to say about why he started this petition and whyQuentin Tarantinoshould do the movie.

“If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it. We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc with the Mouth! It would be so glorious. Join me!”

It doesn’t necessarily seem as thoughQuentin Tarantinohas ever been overly interested in taking on a project just because it had the potential to bring in $1 billion at the box office. He is a man who seemingly does exactly what he wants to do and maintains a tremendous amount of creative control over his projects. In truth, a massive studio superhero movie seems like the kind of project that he actively avoids. Putting all of that aside, he definitely seems to have the sensibilities that could make for an excellent sequel toDeadpool.

A few days ago, it was revealed thatdirector Tim Miller, who directedDeadpooland had a huge hand in getting the movie made in the first place, had leftDeadpool 2over “creative differences.” It was later revealed that those differences had a lot to do with thecastingof the mutant Cable. Reportedly,Tim MillerwantedBloodlinestarKyle Chandler, butRyan Reynoldshad other ideas. In any case, the disagreement resulted in Millerdeparting the projectand now Fox needs to find a new director.

Quentin Tarantinohas said that he intends to stop making movies after his tenth. Even if we only countKill Billas one movie, that only leaves him with a couple of directorial efforts remaining, should he stay true to his word. The idea of him directing a comic book movie isn’t all that crazy. At one point he had expressed interest and was looking into trying to make aLuke Cagemovie, but that was long before the new Netflix series came into play. MaybeDeadpool 2will be one of his final movies? But probably not. In any case, if you want to see it happen, sign the petition and maybe tweet about it. Crazier things have happened.
