We have our first look at Hulu’s upcomingcoming-of-age comedyMiguel Wants to Fightcourtesy of several exclusive new images.Miguel Wants to Fight, which is set to debut on Hulu August 16, finds a teenager turning to his three best friends and asking them to help him get in his first fight ever before he moves to a new city. “Despite living in a neighborhood where fighting is stitched into the fabric of everyday life, high school junior Miguel (Tyler Dean Flores) has never found himself in one,” the official synopsis forMiguel Wants to Fightreads. “And, to be honest, he’s perfectly fine with that. But when a combination of events turn his life upside down, Miguel and his three best friends — the stoic David (Christian Vunipola), the rowdy Cass (Imani Lewis) and the quick-tonged Srini (Suraj Partha) — enter into a series of hilarious misadventures as he tries to get into his first ever fight.”
As well as revealing the main cast of characters, the images tease what’s sure to be just some of the bonkers goings-on as Miguel gears up to take (and hopefully throw) a punch. In several of the images, the character even dons the same iconic yellow-and-black jumpsuit worn by martial arts icon andHollywood legend Bruce Leein the 1978 action outingGame of Death.
Clearly, Miguel has high hopes for his first fight. But we turn now to a quote from another famous fighter, heavyweight champ Mike Tyson, who once said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

Miguel Wants to Fight Comes From Emmy-Winning Director Oz Rodriguez
Miguel Wants to Fightis directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Oz Rodriguez, who helms the comedy from a script by Jason Concepcion and Shea Serrano. Winning an Emmy for Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction Or Reality Series back in 2019 for his work onSaturday Night Live, Oz Rodriguez is best known for such comedic projects as the television seriesKenanstarring Kenan Thompson, the horror comedyVampires vs. the Bronx, as well as episodes ofA.P. Bio, Kevin Can F**k Himself, andThe Last Man on Earth.
Rodriguez’s most recent credit isthe comedy seriesBupkis, which stars Pete Davidson and follows the Saturday Night Live comedian’s life, combining grounded storytelling with some absurd elements from the worldview for which Davidson is well known. The series stars Edie Falco and Joe Pesci alongside Davidson and has been met with critical acclaim.
