Releasing in 2013,Sharknadowas a top-notch B-horror movie that quickly became a cult classic. Everyone was stunned whenSharknadopremiered on the SYFY channel,as the movie wasn’t actually that bad. Yes, it is still ultimately, B-horror movie schlock, with a nonsense story, some cheesy writing, andCG that is laughably bad.But,Sharknadois incredibly fun and one of the best movies of the sub-genre.
Sharknadowas so popular and beloved that it has since spawned five sequels, with each installment getting crazier and more over-the-top as the series goes on. The first movie was never exactly set in any sense of reality, but we eventually deal with time travel, a shark floating in space, and even aStar Wars-esque opening crawl. So with that, here’s how we rank everySharknadomovie.

6Sharknado 4: 4th Awakens (2016)
The fourth entry into this amazingly absurd franchise, is really where the franchise starts to dive into the ridiculous. Fin (Ian Ziering) and his family must deal with a fire tornado, an oil tornado, a nuclear tornado, and the most bizarre of them all, a cow tornado. On top of this,Tara Reidturns into a robot.Sharknado 4is set in Vegas, which allows for more hilarious moments, like a male stripper fighting off a shark flying towards him, by thrusting at it. With a tornado full of references and celebrity cameos in which the film tries to sell as humor, it unfortunately results as a cheap way to make the audience laugh. Instead, the humor comes from the absurd, and we are 100 percent okay with that.
As Fin heads to Vegas for a family reunion, menacing clouds begin to form, and a brand-new Sharknado formation is at hand. Fin, his family, and his friends must yet again fight off a host of sharknadoes in the most mutated forms yet.
5Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! (2015)
While still feeling similar to the previous two movies,Sharknado 3slightly leans into the absurd towards the end of the film, with Fin having to fight sharks in space. This resulted in April (Tara Reid) getting crushed by a chunk of falling space debris. This left viewers to decide her fate with the #AprilLives or #AprilDies campaign. More fans used the hashtag, #AprilLives, which led to her return in the fourth film as a cyborg. The movie is still a heck of a lot of fun, with awesome sharknado action, great, cheesy writing, and some hilarious celebrity cameos. The film knows what it is and thankfully leans into that, which results in a really fun ride.
A devastating sharknado, causes mass destruction in Washington DC., before roaring down the eastern seaboard into Florida, targeting its theme parks. Fin and his family must stop this tornado and save everyone, even if they have to risk everything to do so.
4Sharknado 5: Global Swarming (2017)
Sharknado 5builds upon the mythology of the film series, introducing a shark god, and a sharknado that is capable of spawning an interdimensional vortex. The fifth movie in the series is a lot of fun, and goes all-in on the silliness of the genre and the franchise. This globe-trotting adventure takes us to London, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, Rome, and the great pyramids of Egypt. The scope of this movie is very impressive, even for theSharknadofranchise. Taking us on anIndiana Jones-esque adventureall over the globe, and introducing terrifically ludicrous lore to the franchise. We are also introduced to a secret society of female sharknado hunters, which just adds to the utterly ridiculous fun of the movie.
After a fact finding expedition accidentally triggers a wave of ferocious and bigger-than-ever sharknadoes, Fin’s young son, Gil, gets sucked into the heart of the tornado with minimal chance of survival. Fin and April must travel across the four corners of the globe to track down this tornado, save their son, and protect the world from cataclysmic events.
3The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time (2018)
As the latest movie in the franchise,The Last Sharknadosells itself on beingthe last in the franchise, but do we truly believe that?. At least we hope it isn’t.It’s About Timeintroduces the most ridiculous aspect to the franchise yet; time travel. But, this works in the films favor, as we expect every single entry in the franchise to top the previous movie, andIt’s About Timecertainly delivers in an absurd plot that we cannot help but love. The film begins during the earliest dates in time, with the Cretaceous period, and yes, we finally get dinosaurs in this epic franchise, before we travel to the Dark Ages and the Wild West. Not only do we travel to these points in time, but our chainsaw-wielding hero, Fin, gets to meet iconic figures like King Arthur and Billy the Kid. This movie is proof thatSharknadoseries is a fun as ever and will never feel dull.
After being sent back in time, Fin reunites with his family and friends as they must go on a time-traveling adventure to create a sharknado-free timeline, where they can all finally have a happy ending.
2Sharknado (2013)
It’s hard to believe that nearly a decade ago,Sharknadowas one of the most ridiculous B-horror movies of all time. But after five sequels, the first movie is incredibly tame in comparison. Introducing the world to the hit franchise,Sharknadodelivers everything that we love from B-horror movies, from cheesy writing, ridiculous concepts, and CG that isn’t the best, but all culminate in a highly entertaining motion picture. The film delves into the dramatic and surprisingly works; however the movie is still incredibly silly and fun, which is why we love these movies so much.
Going against all sense of logic and laws of nature, an unprecedented hurricane off the coast of Mexico rips out a ravenous shiver of sharks and heads to the coast of southern California. As the tornadoes send shark-infested tidal waves towards the shores of California, a former surfing champion and bar-owner must fight to save his family and go on a perilous shark filled journey to Beverley Hills.

1Sharknado 2: The Second One (2014)
This movie kicks off in epicSharknadofashion, with a passenger plane flying into a sharknado, leading the sharks to rip the plane and its passengers apart. This is just a taste of the insanity and awesomeness that the film delivers. By the end of the film, we see Fin chop a shark in half with a chainsaw, and finally riding a flying shark before impaling the ferocious beast on top of the Empire State Building. This film contains plenty ofJawsreferencesand also introduces us to celebrity cameos, which have become a huge staple of theSharknadofranchise.
Sharknado2sees Fin and April as they are on their way to New York City. Not long after their arrival, a deadly sharknado begins to form, leading our heroes to fight the flying sharks and save the citizens of the Big Apple.
