Scott Lang’s debut in theMarvel Cinematic Universewas going to be directed by acclaimed filmmakerEdgar Wright. However, the firstAnt-Manfilm ended up being helmed by Peyton Reed, who also directed the two sequels, but many of the original ideas proposed by Wright remained, while others were discarded.

It was in 2014, a year before the movie was released when the original director left the project alleging creative differences with the studio. The details behind his departure were not revealed, but many fans speculated that it was mostly regarding how his story would fit in to theMCU’s larger picture. And it seems they may have been right.

Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania actors

In an interview with The Direct, Ant-Man’s editor Colby Parker Jr. shared some new details behind the conflict, unveiling new information of Wright’s unmade film, which wouldn’t have included any additional MCU characters than strictly necessary to tell the story:

“His film, it was still heist film. But remember how we have three mains. I think there were, like, 15 people within the gang, the gang that was going to do the big heist. I remember I never got to see his script. But I remember hearing that once in discussions when all the big muckety mucks were in the room… [The heist] was going to be more of a collaborative effort and more of a 15-hander than a three-hander. I don’t think there would have been any other Marvel characters set up. I think he was going to be a standalone. He didn’t want any other Marvel characters in the film… I don’t think the Falcon would have been in Ant-Man.”
