Last week, a report surfaced teasing some of the possible movie-related trailers that will air duringSuper Bowl 50this Sunday on CBS. While none of these were confirmed by the respective studios, the report claimed that 20th Century Fox was planning “on-the-ground events” for movies such asEddie the Eagle,X-Men: ApocalypseandIndependence Day: Resurgence, which hinted that we may in fact see new footage from these movies during the big game. Just three days before theSuper Bowl,20th Century Foxhas officially released its trailer forEddie the Eagle, which has a football twist.
While the 30-second spot does include footage from the movie, the video reveals that several past and present NFL stars were treated to an advanced screening ofEddie the Eagle, with three iconic quarterbacks offering their thoughts on thistrue storyadaptation. Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson, New Orleans Saints' Drew Brees and future Hall of Famer Kurt Warner revealed how inspirational this story really is, and that anyone who is chasing a dream should watch this movie. Fans will get their chance to see this unconventional “eagle” soar whenEddie the Eaglehitstheaterson February 26.

Despite finishing in last place in both of his events,Eddie the Eaglebecame an international celebrity following the games. His performance at the games also lead to what became known as the “Eddie the Eagle Rule,” which was put in place by the International Olympic Committee after the Calgary games. The rule requires Olympic hopefuls to compete in international events and be placed in either the top 30 percent or the top 50 competitors. After the “Eddie the Eagle Rule” was put in place, the ski jumper failed to qualify for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France, along with the 1994 games in Lilehammer, Norway and the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan. He has since appeared on a number of TV shows in the U.K. and Europe, and earned a law degree in 2003. He even returned to Calgary in 2008 for a 20th Anniversary celebration of the 1988 Olympics, and became one of the official torch bearers for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
