Earlier this week, we showed you the firstset photosfromMarvel’s highly-anticipatedPhase ThreeadventureDoctor Strange, which is currently shooting in Nepal. Yesterday we got a better look at the beardedBenedict Cumberbatchon the set as he was photographed walking through the streets of Kathmandu. Today,Dutourdumonde Photographyhas captured the first video from the set, which gives us another look atBenedict Cumberbatch, and also teases a mysterious hooded figure.
The video appears to be taken from the same set as the previous photos, with the actor seen walking through a crowded street, thumbing through a book of some sort. We also see a hooded figure whose face is obscured, and from the way the video was cut together, it isn’t known if this mystery character is following Dr.Stephen Strange, or if he is important to the story. We also get a few brief glimpses of directorScott Derrickson, and if that wasn’t enough, more photos from the set have also surfaced.
Unfortunately, there are no supernatural elements at play in this video, and we’re not sure quite yet where in the movie this scene takes place. It’s possible that the future wizard is searching forThe Ancient One(Tilda Swinton), who will eventually train the doctor on his quest to become the Sorcerer Supreme. In theMarvel comics, Stephen Strange was an accomplished neurosurgeon who lost it all after a tragic car accident rendered him incapable of performing surgery again. This tragedy sets Strange off on a mission to find someone who can fix his hands, which leads him to The Ancient One.
The supporting cast includesRachel McAdamsas the female lead, who has been rumored to be Christine Palmer, one of the characters who took up the Night Nurse mantle.Michael Stuhlbargalso stars Doctor Nicodemus West, Strange’s colleague who tried to fix his hands,Chiwetel Ejioforas the nefariousBaron MordoandMads Mikkelsen, who has been rumored to play the unspecified villain. With production just getting under way, hopefully we’ll get an official announcement with new plot details and the full cast very soon.
Scott Derrickson(Deliver Us from Evil) directs from a screenplay byJon Spaihts(Prometheus), based on the comic book character created byStan LeeandSteve Ditko. We’ll be sure to keep you posted with more videos and photos from the set as production continues onDoctor Strange, but for now, take a look at the latest video and photos from the Nepal set. Do you have any theories about what the doctor may be looking for in this scene?
