Two weeks ago, we got an official look at Disney’sThe Jungle Bookwhen thefirst trailerdebuted. Today, JoBlo Trailers has uncovered an international trailer, which features new footage ofNeel Sethias the young Mowgli, although the video is dubbed in the Russian language. Still, you don’t need to be fluent in Russian to enjoy these new scenes in this highly-anticipated adaptation.
Directed byJon Favreau(Iron Man), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, The Jungle Book is an all-new live-action epic adventure aboutMowgli(newcomerNeel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice ofIdris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice ofBen Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice ofBill Murray).
Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice ofScarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice ofChristopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. The all-star cast also includesLupita Nyong’oas the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, andGiancarlo Espositoas the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela.The Jungle Bookseamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world.
The Jungle Bookopens in 2D and3Dtheaters nationwide on July 22, 2025, which is shaping up to be a very busy weekend at thebox office.The Jungle Bookwill go up against The Weinstein Company’sAmityville: The Awakening, Warner Bros.‘Barbershop 3, Lionsgate’sCriminaland Paramount’sEverybody Wants Some. WhileAmityville: The AwakeningandBarbershop 3are based on existing properties,The Jungle Book’s iconic story is much more well-known, but we’ll have to see if that translates into bigbox officebucks or not. We still have several months untilThe Jungle Bookhits theaters, so it’s possible some of these release dates may shift.
Warner Bros. is also releasing their own adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s timeless story, entitledThe Jungle Book: Origins, which hits theaters in October 2017. The original story is in the public domain, which means any studio can take a crack at this story without purchasing the rights.Neel Sethi’s Mowgli is the only character who will be seen in live-action, with the rest of the cast members providing the voices for these jungle animals.
