Hollywood iconDenzel Washingtonis currently lighting up the silver screen once again inGladiator 2, with one of the actor’s most divisive movies all set to land on free streaming next month. The action thrillerMan on Fireis considered a fan-favorite among Denzel admirers, and boasts a magnetic performance from the Oscar winner, but at the time, the movie drew a stark line between audiences and critics.
Directed and produced by Tony Scott from a screenplay by Brian Helgeland,Man on Fireis based on the 1980 novel of the same name by A. J. Quinnell. The action outing sees Denzel Washington take the lead as a deeply damaged former CIA agent and U.S. Marine turned bodyguard with Dakota Fanning as his charge. The rest of the stellar cast includes Christopher Walken, Radha Mitchell, Giancarlo Giannini, Marc Anthony, Rachel Ticotin and Mickey Rourke. The movie stands at just 38% from critics alongside 89% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, demonstrating once again that the two groups don’t always see eye to eye.

Man on Fireis now set to beremade as a series by Netflix, with Emmy Award winner andAquamanstar Yahya Abdul-Mateen ll taking over from Washington as John Creasy, a former CIA operative haunted by his violent past who is hired as the bodyguard of a little girl. TheMan on Firereboot series was reportedly ordered by the streaming giant back in March and will consist of eight episodes, adaptating both A.J.
