Several details have now been revealed regarding the upcoming action movie sequel,Den of Thieves 2, which is due to begin filming in Serbia and France in the spring. Alongside the production schedule, an exclusive fromDeadlinehas also revealed that theDen of Thievessequel will be titledDen of Thieves 2: Pantera, and will follow Gerard Butler as Detective Nick “Big Nick” O’Brien as he attempts to hunt down O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s skilled thief Donnie Wilson.
Further plot details have also been unveiled, with the outline forDen of Thieves 2: Panterareading, “Butler returns as Big Nick (Butler), this time on the hunt in Europe for Donnie (Jackson Jr.) who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia as they plot a massive heist of the world’s biggest diamond exchange.” While many had suspected that the action sequel would take Big Nick on a whole new adventure, the movie will instead pick up the dangling threads left by the first outing.

Den of Thievesstars Gerard Butler, O’Shea Jackson Jr, and Meadow Williams will return forDen of Thieves 2: Pantera, and will be joined by Swen Temmel (After) with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson expected to jump aboard as a producer. Director Christian Gudegast will also return to both write and helmDen of Thieves 2: Pantera, with the filmmaker reportedly researching the project by spending time with people on both sides of the law, thieves and investigators, much like the did for the first installment.

Telling a gritty, violent, action-packed story of cops, robbers, and the grey areas in between,Den of Thievesfeatured a memorable turn from Gerard Butler, as well as Pablo Schreiber, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. While the movie received mixed reviews from critics,Den of Thieveswas a hit with audiences, and thus a sequel was born.
Gerard Butler has previously offered some insight intowhat audiences can expect from the follow-up, describing it as a “more fun, sexy” movie. “We’re supposed to shoot early next year. We’re Europe-bound, we’re still on the hunt for Donnie who’s now on the diamond district in Marseilles,” Butler revealed. “I go over to hunt him down, but with different intentions than you might imagine. So we’re gonna be in Marseilles, the Alps and London - it’s definitely a more glamorous journey than the last one, and probably a more fun, sexy journey.”
