DC’s upcoming streaming platform, DC Universe has an all-new Swamp Thing series on the way from producer James Wan (Aquaman,The Conjuring) and we’re all excited to check it out as soon as it stomps out of the swamps later this year. But do you remember thatScreamandA Nightmare on Elm Streetdirector Wes Craven helmed a version of the classic monster back in 1982 starring Louis Jourdan, Ray Wise, and David Hess? Well, he did, and that version also starred Adrienne Barbeau as Alice Cable. And today we have word that Barbeau will be returning to the swamp for the new series as well!
Adrienne Barbeautook to Twitter herself to make the announcement in a tweet (that has since been removed) that said.

For those who might not be overly familiar with Adrienne Barbeau, the actress is one of the greatscream queensof our time. She has starred in some true classics of the genre with roles such as Wilma Northrup in the segment “The Crate” from George A. Romero and Stephen King’s horror anthologyCreepshow, and Stevie Wayne in John Carpenter’sThe Fog. She has also had roles in Carpenter’sEscape from New York, and Romero and Dario Argento’sTwo Evil Eyes. Non-horror fans might recognize the actress from such projects asBack to Schoolwith Rodney Dangerfield, Suzanne Stanwyck in 66 episodes ofGeneral Hospital, Ruthie in HBO’s short-lived seriesCarnivale, and Nina/Serksi the Galactic Witch in Ben Affleck’s Oscar-winning motion pictureArgo.
She also has a strong career as a voice actor, voicing Catwoman/Selina Kylein 8 episodes ofBatman: The Animated Seriesand 20 episodes of the spin-offGotham Girls. She also boasts a strange side career voicing computers - yes, computers - in such classics as John Carpenter’sThe Thing, Marco Brambilla’sDemoltion Manstarring Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes, and Danny Cannon’s 1995 version ofJudge Dreddalso starring Stallone. Bonus points are also awarded to Barbeau for at one time being married to one of the reigning Masters of Horror, Mr. John Carpenter (Halloween,The Thing).
DC Universe’s new version ofSwamp ThingfeaturesIt: Chapter Twostar Andy Bean as Alec Holland aka the man who would be Swamp Thing, Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, and Will Patton as Avery Sunderland. They will be joined by a supporting cast which includes Henderson Wade as Matt Cable, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue, Jennifer Beals as Lucilia Cable, Ian Ziering as Daniel Cassidy / Blue Devil, Leonardo Nam as Harlan Edwards, and Derek Mears as Swamp Thing. Len Wiseman (Underworld,Live Free or Die Hard) is directing the pilot episode based on a screenplay written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman (The Nun,IT: Chapter Two).Swamp Thinghas tentatively been scheduled by DC Universe to be released from late May 2019 to late August 2019.
