Following the epicDaredevil: Born AgainSeason 1 finale, fans have been speculating which other Marvel superheroes might join the series for the upcoming Season 2. It seems safe to assume that Spider-Man won’t appear, despite manyexpecting to see The Defenders return. However, one name that fans might not have thought of is Elektra. Introduced inDaredevilSeason 2 and played byÉlodie Yung, Elektra was introduced as a former lover of Matt Murdock and a now-assassin who would later become the primary villain ofThe Defenders, where she was last seen, believed to be dead. Yet nobody stays dead in the Marvel Universe for long.

In an interview withPOC Culture, Yung was asked about the prospect of her returning to Elektra inDaredevil: Born AgainSeason 2. Yung said she would answer Marvel’s call if they were to ring her up about reprising her role. Yung seemed to love her time playing Elektra and her co-stars on bothDaredevilandThe Defenders. Yung said:

Matt Murdock in Daredevil Born Again

“Oh, absolutely. That was one of the greatest characters that I had to play. Elektra is just a wonderful nutcase. She’s such a rich character. Who would not want to go back [to that role], and it would be like going back to work with another group of friends [her co-stars] who I absolutely adore. We’ll see. If they call me, I will respond for sure. It’s just so much fun.”

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Release Date Teases Connections to New ‘Avengers’ and ‘Spider-Man’ Sequels

‘Daredevil: Born Again’s expected return date offers an exciting tease for The Punisher special, but will leave Spider-Man fans disappointed.

Why Marvel Should Bring Back Elektra

Created by Frank Miller and first appearing inDaredevil#168 in January 1981, Elektra quickly became one of the most iconic Daredevil supporting characters and a popular marquee Marvel character in her own right.Jennifer Garnerplayed Elektra in 2003’sDaredevilas well as her own spin-off film in 2005, beforereprising her role in 2024’sDeadpool & Wolverine. With Elektra back in the mainstream discussion, Disney+‘sDaredevil: Born AgainSeason 2 might be a great opportunity to not only bring the character back, but rework her following the mixed reaction to her appearance inThe Defenders.

The most significant factor that might keep Yung’s Elektra from having a major recurring role inDaredevil: Born Again, or even returning in any capacity, is scheduling conflicts. Élodie Yung currently stars in the Fox seriesThe Cleaning Lady.As the lead of a major television series, she might have a difficult time fittingDaredevil: Born AgainSeason 2 into her schedule.

MCU Elektra in The Defenders

If Marvel Television plans to makeDaredevil: Born Againa long-running series, it might be best to hold off on bringing Elektra back till a hypothetical third season. Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Againalready looks to be quite packedstory-wise, and adding Elektra to that metaphorical feast is what hurt the originalDaredevilSeason 2. Marvel has the chance to redeem the character, possibly drawing inspiration from recent comics where she becomes Daredevil herself. Elektra was once one of Marvel’s biggest heroes, appearing in feature films, video games, and solo comics, and if done right, could be a major character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
