Dancing with the Starshost Tom Bergeron is not happy with the show’s decision to cast former White House press secretary Sean Spicer for season 28. The host wrote a lengthy post about the decision on social media and fans of the hit show are threatening a boycott over Spicer hopping on board the series. Spicer resigned from President Trump back in 2017 and was replaced with Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who is also on her way out now too. Spicer is now looking forward to showing off his dancing skills to America.
Sean Spicer’s political careerbegan long before the former White House press secretary made his mark as one of the most recognized staffers in the Trump administration. Spicer built a decades-long career in Republican politics and was around for quite a bit. However, it was his time with the Trump administration for which he will be remembered for best and that isn’t such a good thing in the eyes of a lot of people. Spicer notoriously argued and fought with members of the press and made repeated false claims to the American public.
Obviously, fans ofDonald Trumpand his presidency won’t mind his casting onDancing with the Stars, though many have not been happy with some of the unflattering things he has said about the president since making the decision to leave. During a luncheon before the cast was announced, host Tom Bergeron made it clear that the show should steer away from politics to allow people a place to not think about their problems or differences. When he left the lunch, he was “convinced we were in agreement,” though things obviously changed. “Subsequently (and rather obviously), a decision was made to, as we often say in Hollywood, ‘go in a different direction,'” says Bergeron.

As for those fans who have questions about the controversial casting, Bergeron doesn’t want to talk about it. “We can all agree to disagree, as we do now, but ultimately it’s their call. I’ll leave it to them to answer any further questions about those decisions,” said the popular host. Bergeron did joke during the cast announcement video by stating, “The nice thing is, Sean will be in charge of assessing audience size,” referring to Donald Trump’s claims that he had the biggest inauguration crowd size in history.
