Oppenheimeris less than one week away from its long-awaited arrival at theaters, whereChistopher Nolan’s new movie will be competing directly with other of the most anticipated films of the year, Greta Gerwig’sBarbie, presenting two very different stories but both with amazing and numerous casts, and stunning production designs.

Just as its name indicates, Nolan’s movie follows the story of one of the men behind the atomic bomb and one of the scientists that worked on the infamous Project Manhattan.Oppenheimerstars Cillian Murphy, a long time collaborator of the director, along with an amazing cast that includes Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Conti, Rami Malek, Matt Damon, Jack Quaid, Florence Pugh and many others.

But the film also has a very special cameo. In an interview with The Telegraph, Nolan confirmed that his own daughter, Flora, is also appearing in the movie in a very unexpected way, since she stars as a woman whose flesh is torn by a piercing white light in a vision Murphy’s character has:

“We needed someone to do that small part of a somewhat experimental and spontaneous sequence, so it was wonderful to just have her sort of roll with it. Truthfully, I try not to analyze my own intentions. But the point is that if you create the ultimate destructive power it will also destroy those who are near and dear to you. So I suppose this was my way of expressing that in what, to me, were the strongest possible terms.”

The director also made a joke about how he could be considered as a new Michael Powell, who chose his own son to play the young version of a killer in the 1960’sPeeping Tom, since it’s definitely a risky choice to get his own daughter do such a horrifying scene:

“I hope you’re not going to make me sound like Michael Powell on Peeping Tom”.
