Marvel starChris Hemsworthhas vowed to stop playing Thor in the MCU as soon as audiences start to “roll their eyes” when the Asgardian superhero appears on-screen. Speaking withEW, Hemsworth stated once again his desire to reinvent the character should he return in a fifthThorouting, with the actor determined to avoid repeating himself.

“I don’t want to continue to do it until people are so exhausted that they roll their eyes when they see me come on the screen as that character. If an audience wants to see it, and if there’s something that we believe is exciting and fun, then great. I’ve loved being able to reinvent that character a few times. I don’t have the answer yet, but I would love to try and [figure out] how we can do that again and keep it a little unpredictable.”

Thor in Love and Thunder

There is currently no word of aThor 5and, in typical Marvel style, Hemsworth states that he is none the wiser regarding a sequel or return.

“I’ve got to be careful how I word that because I have no idea what’s happening in the next phase. There’s always conversations, like with Extraction. Before anything is official, people are throwing around ideas. But officially, I don’t know.”

This is far from the first time that Hemsworth has affirmed his desireto make major changesto Thor should he be brought back into the fray. “It all depends on the type of story. It has to be something unique,” Hemsworth said last month of his hopes for the character. “What I don’t want is to do the same with the character until the end, until there is a feeling of exhaustion in the audience. But if there is excitement for it, I am always willing to return. If there is a new story, it has to be something very special. I’m sure there’s something exciting to tell, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Chris Hemsworth Thinks Thor: Love & Thunder Was ‘Too Silly’

“I think we just had too much fun. It just became too silly,”the actor explained. “It’s always hard being in the centre of it and having any real perspective… I love the process, it’s always a ride. But you just don’t know how people are going to respond.”

While there are currently no known plans to bring Thor back, it is expected that the character will play a rolein the upcomingAvengerssequels,Avengers: The Kang Dynastyon July 26, 2025, andAvengers: Secret Warson July 14, 2025. Should a fifthThormovie be on the cards, audiences can expect the character to be very different if and when he does return for more.
