As Rocky once said, perseverance is the key, andChicken Runfans have not only been perseverant but patient and they’ll be rewarded with the long-awaited sequel of the 2000 film by Aardman Animation.Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nuggetwill hit the Netflix screen later this year and we can finally meet its full cast.Through thestudio’s social mediait was revealed that Thandiwe Newton will take Julia Sawalha’s place to voice Ginger, the leader of the chickens. Mel Gibson won’t be returning as Rocky either, with Zachary Levi set to voice the character.

But some of the original cast members are making their comeback to surprise the fans. Imelda Stauton, Jane Horrocks, and Lynn Ferguson are voicing Bunty, Babs and Mac once again.

Joining all of them will beGame of ThronesandThe Last of Usbreastar Bella Ramsey, who will play Molly. Josie Sedgwick-Davies, David Bradley, Daniel Mays and Romesh Ranganathan are part of the cast too, voicing Frizzle, Fowler, Nick and Fetcher, respectively.

The originalChicken Runfollowed a group of chickens trapped in a farm. They’ve been trying to run away since forever, but it seems impossible. That is until Rocky, a circus rooster arrives and promises to teach them how to fly in order to finally escape.

Rooster and the chickens will have to work together to earn their freedom while the farm owners seem to have found a better business turning their chickens into pies. Plot details of the sequel are being kept under wraps, but will probably see the group working together once again in a new wild, funny and memorable adventure.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nuggetis directed by Sam Fell, who has worked with Aardman inFlushed AwayandParanorman. The movie premieres on Netflix on November 10.

Aardman’s Newest Golden Age

After a few years of dominating the animation scene, it’s been 4 years since the studio released their latest project,A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddonwhich was not such a big success. Now, withChicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, they’ll be looking to stomp once more. And it won’t be their only big thing coming up.

Aardman will be participating in the upcoming season ofStar Wars: Visions, a collection of short films that tell different stories within the Lucasfilm franchise with different studios collaborating.

The studio’sStar Warsshortis titledI Am Your Mother, and it’s set after the original trilogy. It follows the story of wannabe-pilot Twi’lek tween named Anni and her mother Kalina, who will be caught up in a mother-daughter race.

Star Wars: Visionsseason two will also feature Screecher’s Reach from Cartoon Saloon (Ireland); Sith from El Guiri Studios (Spain); The Bandits of Golak from 88 Pictures (India); In the Stars from PunkRobot Studio (Chile); The Pit from D’ART Shtajio (Japan) and Lucasfilm Ltd.
