It’s been well over a week since we’ve seen any photos from the set ofCaptain America: Civil War, which likely means that the production has moved indoors at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta. It may be quite awhile before we get another glimpse at the cast on set, but today we have a new rumor that teases very intriguing possibilities for this sequel, and even theMarvelCinematic Universe as a whole. These details have not been confirmed, but if they do turn out to be true, there will be massive SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.
When production began onCaptain America: Civil Warin early May,Marvelsent out the official synopsis and confirmed the main cast, most of whom we had already known about, except for two,Paul Ruddreturning as Scott Lang fromAnt-ManandWilliam Hurtreprising his role from 2008’sThe Incredible Hulkas General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. According to this new report, General Ross will transform into the Red Hulk, and he will also be doing battle with the current Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in a fight scene that will reportedly rival the Hulk/Hulkbuster scene fromAvengers: Age of Ultron.
Mark Ruffalowasn’t mentioned on the official cast list released last month, but the actor did tease that he was coming back forCaptain America: Civil Warwith a cryptic tweet that stated, “The Marvel family gets just a little bit bigger,” which included the #CivilWar hashtag. Of course, in the Marvel comics, General Ross does turn in to Red Hulk, and his sudden re-emergence into the MCU came as quite a surprise to many fans. It’s also worth noting that Hulk’s fate was left unclear at the end ofAvengers: Age of Ultron, when he was seen boarding a Quinjet and taking off for parts unknown, to protect the rest of the world from himself. The emergence of Red Hulk certainly seems like a viable reason forMark Ruffalo’s Hulk to come out of exile. What do you think about these new details?
