AMC’sBetter Call SaulSeason 4 is officially underway. Production on the fourth season of the hit AMC series kicked off this week, as revealed via a set photo posted to Twitter by producer Peter Gould. This is one of those rather secretive shows, so he couldn’t reveal much, but he posted a photo of a clapperboard with the series' logo on it, with a caption that makes it quite clear filming has started onSeason 4 of the AMC series.

TheBreaking Bad spin-offhas been a big hit for AMC so far and seems to be gaining steam heading into this upcoming season. Interestingly enough, 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of the first season ofBreaking Baddebuting as well. It’s kind of hard to believe this amazing universe created by Vince Gilligan, who was previously best known for his work onThe X-Files, has already been around for a decade.
Speaking of Vince Gilligan, he was asked last year about how much longerBetter Call Saulwill be on the air. The show, which focuses on Saul Goodman, akaJimmy McGill, played by Bob Odenkirk, prior to the events ofBreaking Bad, has limited potential as the events ofBetter Call Saulbump up ever more closely to Walter White’s famous exploits. Here’s what Gilligan had to say about it.
“We couldn’t really give you an exact amount of episodes. The reason being, and I’m not being coy here, it’s just hard to know exactly. But you did put your finger on something important. Just from watching this show you can tell that it’s a finite story. And we know that even further from the fact that this show has to butt up against the beginning of Breaking Bad. So there is a finite nature here. But there’s one difference in Better Call Saul’s finite nature that wasn’t there with Breaking Bad, which is that there is yet again the possibility of a whole other story to be told through the black-and-white beginnings of a post-Breaking Badworld that we’ve put at the top of each season. So while I think that there is a definite end in sight for the pre-Breaking Bad story, there still seems like there could be a lot in the post-Breaking Bad world. I’m kind of fascinated by that, simply as one of thefirst fans of the series. What could come out of that? No promises, but it seems to me that there’s a little more opportunity for scope there than there even was in Breaking Bad.”
Given howBreaking Badended, it’s entirely possible we could see whatSaul Goodmanis up to following the events of that series inBetter Call Saulas well. Will AMC decide to do that? IF the ratings continue to be good and the show continues to earn Emmy nominations for the network, why not?
