The director has built up a strong following and often engages in conversations as well as answering questions about his movies and liking posts that his fans make, leading to a pretty tight online relationship. Snyder was recently asked about specific details concerning the opening moments inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he answered without hesitation.
It’s been 2 years sinceBatman v Supermanwas released in theaters and while critics didn’t enjoy the movie that Zack Snyder crafted, fans have either stuck with it since the beginning or grown to love it. That’s not to say that it’s no longer a divisive movie, this is the DCEU that we’re talking about here. After repeat viewings, fans have started to take notice that Zack Snyderput a lot of thought into his creative decisions, which he enjoys talking about.
Recently, a fan asked Zack Snyderabout the opening sceneofBatman v Superman, which is where a young Bruce Wayne can be seen getting lifted up to light by a flock of bats. Ben Affleck delivers a voiceover that states, “In the dream, they took me to the light. A beautiful lie.” This quote has raised some questions amongst DC fans since the movie’s release and now Snyder has explained the scene. He had this to say.
“The idea that in the dream the righteous man thegood man seeks justicebut that quest for justice lead him into darkness and his own moral code is in question or may only be a construct of his grief, so the lie of the light becomes justice = light for Batman it’s the opposite.”
Zack Snyder has taken time out of his day to postoriginal concept art for Justice LeagueandBatman v Supermanover the last several months. Some believe that the concept art forJustice Leagueis the closest to the mythical Snyder cut of the movie that we’re ever going to see while others hold out hope that the director’s original vision will see the light of day. Snyder keeps fueling the fire that his cut actually exists by liking these posts online, which has led to more confusion.
Whether it’sconfusing fans about his feelings on DC and Warner Bros., or answering fan questions online, Zack Snyder clearly cares about his craft and his loyal following. It’s always a lot more interesting to get his take on diehard fan questions straight from the source as opposed to coming from a secondhand source.
