Marvel’sDaredevilstarAyelet Zurerhas commented on the recasting of her character for the upcoming seriesDaredevil: Born Again. In the previousDaredevilseries, Zurer played Vanessa Fisk, the love of Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) life. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Vanessa will be played by Sandrine Holt inDaredevil: Born Again, but no information was divulged about why the character was recast. It remains unclear if the new series will also be casting other major characters as well, as it was reported that both Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll will not be back as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.
In any case, Zurer seems to be a bit bummed by the recasting. On herInstagram Stories, Zurer shared screenshots of an article praising her run onDaredevil. She doesn’t specifically state why she’s not coming back, so it remains unclear if this was due to a scheduling issue or from theBorn Againteam just wanting to change things up with the cast. But Zurer does make it clear that she’s “sad” to miss out on the show, declaring how much she still loves her former co-star.

“Sad to not take part. But will always be [Vincent D’Onofrio’s] biggest fan,” she wrote on the image.

Sandrine Holt Is the New Vanessa Fisk
D’Onofrio joins Charlie Cox forDaredevil: Born Again, and it’s also been revealed that Jon Bernthal will return as The Punisher for the series as well. But the recasting of Vanessa Fisk still leaves things unclear as to where this new series stands compared to the previousDaredevilshow. There’s a question mark over whether the new series will be a fresh reboot that uses some of the same actors but with all-new storylines that don’t directly acknowledge the other show. For his part,Daredevilshowrunner Erik Oleson isn’t sure either what they’re doing withBorn Again, but he’s referring toBorn Againas season 4 ofDaredevilfor now.
“I’m rooting for them," he toldScreen Rantin a recent interview. “But I really don’t know what they’re planning yet. We used pieces of Born Again in our season. I still call [Daredevil: Born Again] season 4, but they’re trying to insist it isn’t, so I’ll go along with whatever they want to call it.”
He contniued, “I’m very happy that Charlie [Cox] and Vincent, and hopefully more of our Marvel friends, will get a chance to go make more of the show. I’m a huge fan of them; I’m a huge fan of the show. I look forward to seeing what it is. I hope it’s great, let me put it that way.”
Daredevil: Born Againwill be filming throughout the year with plans for a release of the 18-episode series on Disney+ in 2024.
