Funimation Entertainment is proud to announce its acquisition of “Attack on Titan” Season 2 and the return of the worldwide hitanime serieswhich was first introduced to U.S. and Canadian audiences in 2013.Attack on TitanSeason 2 is scheduled to premiere in April 2017 in Japan. Here’s whatGen Fukunaga, CEO and founder of Funimation, had to say in his statement.

Attack on Titan(“Shingeki no Kyojin” in Japanese) is based on the New York Times best-selling manga series by Hajime Isayama and tells the story of a world in which the last of humanity fights to survive againstman-eating giantscalled Titans. With now 21 volumes in print and an estimated 70 million copies in print today,Attack on Titanhas inspired spin-off manga and novels, the anime series, a live action movie and numerous video games. Funimation simulcast the original 25-episode, Season 1 ofAttack on Titanas well as released it on home video throughout North America. Last year, we reported that alive action serieswas being developed, based on theAttack on Titanmovies, with cast membersSatomi Ishihara(Hanji),Nanami Sakuraba(Sasha),Rina Takeda(Lil) andAyame Misaki(Hiana) returning to voice their characters from the movies, withYuta Hiraokajoining the cast. The TV series will tie into both of the Attack on Titan movies, telling stories about the “everyday lives and secrets” of these soldiers. We haven’t heard any updates on this live-action series since then, but we only have a few months left until the anime Attack on Titan series returns.
