Ariana Grandehas been the talk of Hollywood lately thanks to her standout performance as Glinda the Good in last year’sWicked. This awards season, she’s up for multiple trophies, including Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards, where she’ll compete against the likes of Zoe Saldaña and Isabella Rossellini, to name a couple. Her stock has risen so much that now the former Nickelodeon star is apparently being offered a slew of roles,including one in the upcomingSpaceballs 2.
According to a new in-depth profile on Grande published byThe Hollywood Reporter, the actress and singer is so hot right nowfollowing the success ofWickedthat she’s been approached about numerous follow-up roles. These include, the profile says,“a disaster wedding comedy, a female detective romp set in aHousewives-style reality show, and aSpaceballssequel.“However, Grande, now 31, isn’t too eager to just accept anything that comes her way. “Well, I can neither confirm nor deny, but I’m blushing,” she said, adding:
“I just think it’s such an important thing to stay connected to that guttural creative thing in my heart and my chest that wants to give itself over to something that screams at me and says,‘Oh, that’s a really cool challenge.’ I have a thing, and when it goes off, I know.”

Ariana Grande is “flattered” by the idea, but she thinks her ‘Victorious’ co-star would be a better fit.
Whatever Grande’s “thing” is, it served her well when it came toWicked, which went on to earn more than $700 million at the box office, and receive 10 Oscar nominations. The film was – and still is – a cultural sensation thanks to its many musical numbers, which not only highlighted Grande’s vocal talents, but also showed that her acting abilitieshave greatly improved since her days playing Cat Valentine for Nickelodeon.
Would Ariana Grande Be a Good Fit for ‘Spaceballs 2’?
Knowing that Grande has been offered a role inSpaceballs 2, the question now becomes: Would she be a good fit for the movie? Say what you will about Grande, but she’s one of the most recognizable faces on the planet, and would bring a lot of star power to the project, which iscurrently in the works at Amazon MGMwith Mel Brooks, Josh Gad, and Josh Greenbaum.
Grande has a certain way about her that is reminiscent of Daphne Zuniga, who played Princess Vespa in the original film. Her comedic timing, her aura, and her willingness to open herself up to new challenges could be a tremendous addition toSpaceballs 2, which has yet to begin filming. That being said, if Grande does join the film, she can probably expect a lot of backlash from the naysayers, who seem to love nothing more than to tear down the star for no other reason than her fame.
