Absolute Dominionhas been in the works forsome time now, with both Netflix and Blumhouse Productions initially on board the project before dropping out. Giant Pictures later stepped in, picking up the action outing for distribution. Not only doesAbsolute Dominionboast a gloriously high-concept, but the martial arts movie also finds Phil Tan on board as stunt coordinator. Tan is best known for his work on the likes ofBullet Train, Inception, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Minority Report, and thePirates of the CaribbeanandTransformersfranchises, all of which promise some spectacular action as we bear witness to the most important fighting tournament in the history of humanity. UntilMortal Kombat 2arrives, of course.
“Absolute Dominionis an electrifying blend of impeccable action sequences, imaginative production design, and social commentary,” said Nick Savva, General Manager at Giant Pictures, in a statement to Deadline earlier this year. “We are thrilled to be partnering with Lexi to bring her adrenaline-fueled vision to audiences around the world. The film is a must-see for martial arts fans and movie lovers alike.”
“Absolute Dominionis a story set in a world that closely reflects the world I grew up in, which included a lot of martial arts, a multi-cultural cast of characters, and lively debates about the existence of God,” added director Lexi Alexander. “So this is my passion project in the truest sense of the word.”
