After months of uncertainties and fan campaigns,A League of Their Owngot its long-awaited renewal for a second season onPrime Videoback in March. However, the continuity of the series came with a little trick, since the next installment will be the last and will have fewer episodes than the previous one.
Although still a bit hopeless, fans of the new adaptation of the acclaimed 1992 film based on a true story gladly accepted the new episodes hoping that the story could have a dignified outcome, although many loose ends may remain due to the unexpected finale that the show must deliver with a shortened number of episodes.
However, there is still hope thatA League of Their Ownwill not end with its second season.Speaking to The Wrap, Prime Video executive Vernon Sanders was positive about continuing the series beyond the next few episodes:
“I’m one of those people that believes that if magic happens and we get a great response, this doesn’t necessarily have to be the end. It will totally depend on how it performs and how the cast and creators all decide they want to revisit it if they do. So let’s hope we get that big audience. Doing a big ensemble period piece, at the scale and level of Season One was both really gratifying but challenging. And we had a conversation with the producers about how can we bring that back but do it in a way that perhaps was a little more cost-constrained. And the producers came back to us and said, ‘What if we did it as a limited series?’ And we jumped at the chance and they’ve arced out something that we think is really dynamic. So I think the proof will be in the pudding.”

What to Expect from A League of Their Own Second Season
Like the movie of the same name,A League of Their Owncenters on a group of women chosen to participate in a professional baseball league during the war, since the men will be on the battlefield and will not be able to play.
The series shows the lives of the players as they coexist, establishing friendships, experiencing romances and facing conflicts such as racism and homophobia, especially in a time when they were judged even just for being women trying to earn a living as athletes.
