John Wickis hella fun, and we have a Desperate Housewife to thank for it. How so? Well, Eva Longoria funded the first movie to prevent production from shutting down, and look where we are now. But that’s a story for another day. Over the last decade, the world of Wick has kept growing, and the breaks on the assassin’s 969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 are unlikely to be pumped anytime soon. Currently, three more movies are in development.
The demand is there, so the installments keep coming. However, we pray that, in the future, the screenwriters and directors will get to love logic as much as John loves his dog. That’s right. The Wick movies can get ridiculous sometimes… not that we mind. It’s more of a genre issue since action movies, generally, tend to punch reality out the door. Even so, it’s worth noting that many of the greatest movies of all time have fewer idiotic scenes, so it would be good for the team behind the franchise to tighten things up in the future.

8Wick Survives a Fall from the Top of The Continental
‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’
In the closing minutes ofParabellum, Winston shoots John off the roof of The Continental. The assassin falls several stories, his body bouncing off a few fire escapes before hitting the pavement. Interestingly, he never appears to need any medical attention. John shows up in Chapter 4, ready to fight again.
No Humpty Dumpty
Such a fall would paralyze or even kill the toughest humans. How in the world does John just come out unscathed? The scene not only defies basic human resilience by ruining the intelligent sequence that played out earlier. Winston shoots Wick to prove his loyalty to the High Table and save himself from the High Table’s wrath since John had broken their rules. Even worse, the Adjudicator immerses himself in a common action movie cliche by never confirming whether John Wick is really dead after the fall.
7The Playing Card
‘John Wick: Chapter 4’
During a high-stakes poker game at the Berlin nightclub Himmel und Hölle, hosted by Killa Harkan (the Head of the German branch of the High Table),the crime boss cheats by playing five twosbefore ordering his henchmen to kill John, Caine, and The Tracker.John then retaliates by cutting Killa’s neck with a playing card.
Card Blade?
No paper playing card can cut through someone’s skin like a razor.Even when projected with extreme force, it will only bruise the person, not penetrate the skin. It would take a different kind of material to achieve such a feat. For the record, metal playing cards exist, but they are rare and on the premium end. If that’s what John Wick used, then such a detail would have been mentioned.
3 Actors Who Were Considered for ‘John Wick’ Before Keanu Reeves
It’s impossible now to imagine anyone other than Keanu Reeves playing John Wick. But believe it or not, that’s almost what wound up happening.
6Lethal Horse Kicks
No matter how good a fighter you are, you can get tired of hitting people, at least according to John Wick. While fleeing from assassins in a stable, he strategicallytricks an enemy combatant into getting behind a horse before slapping the animal’s rear, prompting a deadly kick that kills the assailant instantly. Interestingly, he repeats the move a few more times.
Even Zorro Can’t Do It
A horse kick is indeed powerful. It can generatea force of up to 2,000 psi. However, this ismore likely to break bones than kill someone. Startling a horse will indeed cause it to kick in retaliation, just like a donkey. However,John Wick getting the horses to kick with precision on prompt, and at the right angle, several times, is illogical. Unless horses can be trained in martial arts, this would be impossible.
5Endless Pistol Ammo
‘John Wick: Chapter 2’
During the shootout against Santino D’Antonio’s men at the “Reflections of the Soul” exhibit,John uses a Glock 34 Generation 3 pistol to shoot dozens of men. During this time, he never reloads his weapon, so we geta pretty high kill count, but a scene that makes little sense.
A Glock 34 Generation 3 pistol has about 17 rounds, so John can’t fire for minutes without reloading. Though his choice of weapon is perfect for his preferred Gun Fu tactics, he shouldn’t be able to use a Glock 34 for long. Thankfully, this erroneous factor has been rectified in sequels. In recent installments, John can be frequently spotted pausing to reload his weapon.

4The Arc de Triomphe Battle
In what is undoubtedly the film’s centerpiece action sequence, John Wickfaces off against scores of adversaries in a chase and shoot showdown around the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Interestingly, the public never panics. Traffic keeps flowing smoothly, and the police don’t show up immediately.
The French Mind Their Business?
This particular scene sits up there with some of thegreatest cinematic action sequences of all time. However, the battle would never play out this way in real life, given how busy the area is. Apparently, shooting at the location was even impossible, given the high level of traffic and the kinds of stunts involved, so the production team opted for an abandoned airport in Berlin.
3No One Notices the Shootings at Grand Central Station
Cassian — the top hitman of the Camorra and the chief bodyguard of the organization’s leader, Gianna D’Antonio — proves to be quite a match for John Wick. One of their best confrontations happens at the Grand Central Station, wherethey fire at each other while walking through hordes of oblivious commuters. Interestingly, no one ever notices what’s happening.
Another Incident Where No One Cares
The two hitmen use silencers on their pistols, butthe bullets’ impacts on walls and nearby objects should still produce enough sound to make a passenger or two curious. Moreover, bullet shells are likely to bruise a person or two.Security teams also tend to be quite alert in areas like this, especially personnel observing the camera movements. Surprisingly, no one ever bothers to look at John’s bloodied face.
Keanu Reeves’ 10 Best Action Movies, From ‘The Matrix’ to ‘John Wick’
This list counts down every masterpiece that made Keanu Reeves a bona fide action star.
2Getting Knocked Down the Montmarte Staircase and Climbing Back Up
John Wick must arrive at the Sacré-Cœur Basilica by sunrise for his climactic duel, but since the High Table placed a massive bounty on his head, several assassins get in his way as he races up the Montmartre staircase. Just as he is about to reach the top,he is sent falling back down. But he just gets back up and goes again.
John Weak? Hell No
This is similar to John falling down The Continental. The protagonist falls about 200 feet across 223 steps, yet it never affects him. Ordinarily, such a nasty fall would result in severe spinal injuries, several broken bones, some head trauma, or internal bleeding. At best, there’d be dislocated joints, preventing someone from getting back up again and running up the stairs. Cool sequences though.
1The Motorcycle Sword Fight
In one ofParabellum’s unforgettable scenes,Zero’s men chase John Wick on motorcycles on the Brooklyn Bridge Expressway while wielding katanas. Flanked by the attackers.John manages to fend them off using a stolen sword. It’s an amazing scene, thoughit’s ripped off from the Korean movie,The Villainess.
Johnny Rider
It’sdifficult (or maybe even impossible) to turn your head and swing your hands while riding at over 60mph on a highway. Due to wind resistance and other factors, the chances of losing balance are extremely high. Sudden bodily movements are likely to interfere with motorcycle stability, causing accidents. The chances of landing a clean sword strike are also lower when moving at high speeds. That’s why ancient military cavalry used spears and sabres. Note that horses move at slower speeds, too.
